Changing reservation if discount comes out!

I get it. I used to go at least once a year and sometimes more (when we had APs), and we have not been since July 2020 and have no plans to go back. The value proposition (not just in terms of resorts but the entire vacation experience) is not there for us anymore, compared to other types of vacations.

Last time we were at WDW was 2018 and we used to go yearly or more for the last 15 years but in 2019 we went out west for a change and then prices started getting so high and they started taking away so many things, including my favorite ride (Great American movie ride) and magic started going away for me. We were going to do this as a surprise trip and then will probably not be back for years sadly. I will decide and look at the numbers again. Waiting for a discount to come out but who knows if that will ever even happen.

Maybe disney just offered this AP discount on rooms to get people to buy $1200 AP's??? I am starting to think that maybe they are not going to give a discount to disney visa or General public. Anyone else agree?

Yes, this unfortunately was what I expected and did. I too used to enjoy planning these vacations with ADRs that you can actually get and when 180 days out, Fast Pass+ 60 days out, and room availability with reasonable pricing. Spent 3 hours on the phone yesterday with a cast member that was not nearly as properly trained, that they did not understand why the discount wouldn't apply to an existing reservation and checking with supervisor for 20+ minutes on hold, only to tell me sorry no, and just to keep try checking back for availability. Guest Experience is still severely lacking now 4+ months since the parks opened, especially when it comes to booking a vacation. We should not have to try this hard to attempt to give a company $7,000+ for a trip. Should not have to wake up at 6 am on one specific day to attempt to get decent table service reservations....etc etc.

Hello Disney, I want to give you my money, but can't seem to find a way........

I was excited to see that the number of special offers (I check several times a day for our April trip) had increased from 7 to 9 this morning. Unfortunately there was none offered for the General Public that stretched into April. I can understand the negative reactions by some regarding price increases, less magic and the 6 month ADR ressies not coming back. Nothing but Florida residents and AP holders discounts is what I’m seeing. What about the regular guy who brings his family annually to DW, stays deluxe and buys all the extras to the sum of about $12k a trip? Come on Disney. While they can certainly take advantage of the built up demand for the Disney experience in the short term with these increased prices, I believe there are many that either cancel Or decide to go one more time only, ultimately hurting future revenues. Just my 2 cents. The greed(and yes I understand supply and demand) will in the long run hurt them immensely.

While I personally would really love for there to be a general public discount for our trip in January, unless I’m missing it I’m not seeing any military discounts so far for 2022. The fact that Disney is not giving any sort of discount to the people that serve this country really rubs me the wrong way. My younger son is an Army veteran so I may be a little biased, but I would rather that military families get a discount before the general public.

Datfan, agree 100%. Get that it is a business, but seems they are holding room inventory, holding back on discounts, manipulating perceived sales demand with the hope that fans will pay the premium to be back after 2+ years. Time will tell, but I gather there will be more and more cancellations in the coming months based on these prices. The super/pay anything/multiple trip fans in the early 50th anniversary rush, may be skewing Disney policy.

There is a sweet spot for families, that if you go X times while your kids are within a certain age, that they likelier be long term Disney customer themselves.

Agreed. I grew up as a military brat traveling and living in different places my father happened to be stationed at… of course I would hope that military discounts are offered in the new year.

I thought this could be true. Considered it for our trip, but did the math, and not worth the cost of the AP. Maybe for FL residential APs it is. From looking at discounts offered this year and last, I'm not holding my breath.
