Changing Reservation from Disney to AAA Rate

I booked direct with Disney for a week in October. I then called AAA and found that there was a substanial savings to book through them. Is it hard to change the reservation over? Has anyone ever had any problems doing this or is it an easy process? Will my ressie number be the same? I'm sort of worried about my dining reservations. Also, if another rate code comes out that is better that the AAA rate - can we change again? Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

I switched to AAA for the discount. But, I canceled the Disney res and requested the deposit back. But, first I booked the AAA room to make sure I got the discount.

I've heard that sometimes AAA can work from the original ressie. but, I didn't bother.

AAA also told me (and I hope it's true) that I can switch to an AP discount if one comes out for my dates. But, that probably won't be until May.

You should be able to cancel the disney reservation without penalty. Be sure you secure your aaa booking first.

It is however possible to sign over your reservation in some way to aaa. I dont know how difficult it is.

AAA can take over your reservation. Be sure you find an AAA TA that knows Disney (they have that Disney College of Knoweledge certificate sometimes).

If you cancel your own reservation, then try to rebook through AAA, you may not be able to get the reservation you want, especially if your departing date is not too far off.

If I am planing on using a AAA discount I will book by phone direct with Disney. I will even get the AAA rates right then too. This way I can change my reservations dates and/or resort as needed. If you do it through a TA first (any TA) then only they can change the ressie and that can be a pain.

After I'm sure my plans are final, and if I'm doing the dining plan, I go to the AAA and have them take over my reservation so I can add the dining plan (if you have AAA discount and want the dining plan you can only do it through AAA with a package). I had done this as little as 2.5 weeks away from my departing date. If you are doing this with less than 45 days before departure be sure to have all the money upfront since you would need to pay in full.

does anyone know if you switch reservations from disney to AAA and you already had put in dining reservations through disney will you lose them when you go through AAA

can someone tell me how to get the count down on my posts

Click on someone's countdown ticker.. like mine below. It will take you to TickerFactory.com. Scroll down and click on Vacation and Travel, then follow the instructions to make your own ticker.

When you're done they will have the code you need to copy & paste into your signature here. It's the bbCode one. Just copy it, then come to this site and click on User CP, click on Edit Signature on the left, and copy the code into the text box. Save...

Have fun:)

Nope, you shoudln't. Your dining reservations can be tied to your phone number instead of your reservation number. If you're worried, call dining first and have them tie the ressies to your phone number instead so that when you cancel the reservation (if you do) they won't be lost.

wow this is great news I just got off the phone with aaa and they will email me a form to fill out and then I must fax it back to aaa at that point they will
fax it to disney and then aaa will take over the ressie. with this because we have the dining plan and passes we get the diamond parking YES!!! and a couple of other goodies.

A lot usually closer to the 'door'. We noticed that sometimes the closest regular parking was a bit closer but it was full anyway. At MK you still have to park in the ttc lot then boat/monorail to the park. I think I saw mentioned before that there is no tram service to the boat/monorail area from this lot. We just went ahead and walked since there wasn't a tram in site. It is a bit of a hike but not soooo bad....i mean we are walking all day anyway. One seemed to pretty much bet the handicapped lot. You go to the park show your card where you wold pay if you were paying (all disney resort guests park free anyway) and they will tell you which way to go (which lines on the road to follow) and there you are about as close as you can get to the gates. We loved it. We frequently parked in the morning and bussed back to the resort for the afternoon retreiving our car in the evening. By parking it early in the morning and being in the aaa lot we were usually front of the aaa lot so leaving the park we were in the car pretty quick.

If you were going to book AAA yourself, do you just ask disney if there is a AAA rate and have it applied, then transfer to AAA???

We are going in June. Does anyone know if there is a AAA discount for June? And, if so , how much??

Thanks

Diamond parking is best for Epcot I think. The parking is directly in front of the kennel on the left side of the entrance. It's the closest of all the parks, and it seems to have the largest number of spaces.
MGM is next best, then AK.. but AK has like 15 spaces!... and I don't use the one at MK for the same reasons as the above poster. You have a LONG walk and the trams don't stop at the AAA parking.

You can do it that way.. just call Disney and book, and ask if an AAA discount is available. They have a certain number of rooms available for the AAA discount, the same as for the AP discount, so you have to call and see if they have available rooms. If you book this way and you want a package (dining and/or tickets), you can then go to AAA and have them take over your reservation to add your package options. You cannot book a AAA package by yourself.
If you want room only, you don't need to go through AAA to get the discount, but you do need to be a AAA member. They may ask for your card upon checkin.

The discounts vary for different levels of resorts. I think for June it's 10% off the deluxes and 15% off value and moderate.
