Changing Name on Reservation

Can you change a name on a reservation anytime before arrival? Our MIL is suppose to coming with us on our trip which we arrive on July 4th. Problem is, she is having problems with her back and can't hardly walk. If she decides to stay home is there any rules saying we cant change her name on our reservation a day or so before we leave? We do have the dining plan.

To be safe, I would drop her 48 hours before your arrival and only get the plan for those remaining on the reservation.
