Changing Name on Deed

Confirms that not having them on the deed at this time is the better way to go. We've thought about the trust route not just for DVC but other assets as well. Will need to give that some more thought if that's a good fit for us: revocable and non-revocable.

Is there any consensus on if a revocable or non-revocable trust is best? I’m not clear on the use cases.

A revocable trust assets will remain in your name under your control in other words you can make changes and use the funds as you please, sell property etc. Irrevocable trusts the assets will be transferred to the name of those named in the trust with legal agreements of the use of the property and or funds and more. In the end the Irrevocable offers better protection of your assets as you have nothing but there are other major considerations......

I'd recommend a dive into the internet for what the benefits of each are. We spoke with our estate attorney about our options and chose a revocable trust so we can control it and add/subtract to the trust while alive. It sounds so pretentious to have an estate attorney but we are just regular middle class people that had a horrible experience when my lower income dad died with probate in two states, and wanted to avoid that for our kids.

My husband passed away several years ago. I'd like to replace his name on the deed with my daughter. How does one go about doing tht? DVC would not do it. Said something about getting a lawyer. Anyone have experience with this?
We added our daughters as co-owners to our DVC deeds via member services. We waited until they were stable in their homes and relationships 🤞. It cost just below 2K for 4 contracts totaling 345 points. We did every thing - e-signed and notarized - via email and virtual sessions. The girls were able to do their part during their lunch hours on their phones.

Thanks for this. If I understand, owners can simply contact DVC to add family owners.

Unless it’s new, you can contact them and they will refer you to a title company because an offical deed needs to be created and filed.

When we did it, MA connected us with First American.
Our contracts are 17 years old and MS offered us their title & notary. We might've saved some going with our own selection but DVC MS made it very easy to use their services. Plus the girls received a 'gift' :)

If they are now handling it in house, vs an outside title company, then that is something that wasn’t available in 2019 when we did it!
