My husband asked me this questions last night - and - being new to DVC - I didn't know the answer.

If, next year, when we go to BCV and we go to visit SSR - providing it's open - and we decide we would rather own at SSR instead of BCV - will DVC change our home resort to SSR with our current points and some additional cash? (difference between what we paid for BCV and the current amount for SSR)

I told my husband we should just buy into SSR and he kind of gave me this look - lol - figure I've got some time to work on that one - lol.

Thank you.

No, it's a completely different purchase. You would have to sell your BCV and then buy SSR.

DVCGirl gave you the answer.

It might help to remember that you didn't really purchase the points. You purchased a piece, even though it's very tiny, of real estate. If purchase a house in a development, you can't just swap it for one you see the next year that you like better. You have to sell your house and repurchase the new one. It's the same with DVC. If a new resort opens, you either have to "add-on" or sell what you've got and repurchase.

Unfortunately, I know this is true. Maybe you can trade with someone (but I think there are some costs involve), but if you have a loan, it would make it so difficult, probably impossible. That's the situation we're in-bought into VWL, then on our first trip DH wished we had OKW instead-now we're not even interested in going back to VWL. Can't pry DH away from OKW! And on my solo trips, I love BCV. But until this loan is paid off at least, we're stuck. Then maybe you can trade, if anyone else is interested.

Well hopefully you will be happy with BCV! As nice as SSRS may be- it will not have the location or pool that you have at BCV. I don't think you will regret your decision.

Any news about the room size of SSRS rooms? If they are BCV, WLV, BWV size, the advantage is probably with BCV. You can always wait and see. Even if BCV is sold out, it will be available on the resale market.

One of the advantages of OKW being a preference and owning at another resort is that there is greater availability at OKW for reservations than at other DVC resorts. You can always try to trade, there may be owners wanting to trade OKW for WLV, especially given BWV, BCV, and WLV fill up faster (although they are smaller).

We're absolutlely thrilled with BCV!!!

We were just curious as to how this would work - being new to DVC.

Can't wait til April 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thanks everyone
