Changing flight dates on Southwest

I am wanting to book our flights for our trip this summer, but am wanting to add a day to the days that I had originally asked for at work. The bad part is my boss is out of town so I can't verify the extra date with him. I'm 99.9% sure he won't care, but I'm wondering if I can change the date of my return flight if I absoultely had to - if he didn't approve the extra day?

I think from reading the boards that I can, but just wanted to verify.

That's the beauty of Southwest. You can easily switch flights. If the price on the flight you're switching to is higher, you do have to pay the difference. If it's lower, you'll receive a credit for the difference to apply to a future flight (up to one year from the date you booked the original flight).

Its easier making the changes if you book them as 2 sets one-way tickets.

Departing date and return date. If you don't do it that way when you go into your booking to change the return date the departing date's flight might be a higher price for the same flight you already have booked and you will end up paying the higher price for that segment of the trip also.

That is a good idea to book them as one-way tickets, because as of right now, the flight down is a pretty good deal, so I'd hate to have to pay a higher price for it later.

I've booked a roundtrip on Southwest on the same reservation before and I changed one leg without having to change the other leg.
