Changing dates on a room only reservation?

We may be needing to change our dates for our next trip by a month or two. My question is, we are booked for a room only reservation. Am I able to change the dates, and I may need to change the resort if it is not available with the current deposit I have, or will that reservation need to be completely cancelled and refunded and a new deposit made? The new reservation would be a room only as well.

If you are just changing your room only reservation then they should be able to keep the same reservation number and deposit if you change resorts and/or dates. It is only when you are changing from a room only to a package that they have to cancel and rebook under a different reservation number.

I've done it twice (room only reservations both times) and my confirmation number has always stayed the same and my existing deposit was applied. One trip I had to change resorts because of availability but everything still transferred.

I've changed the dates on my upcoming room only reservation twice now and kept the same number and deposit paid.
