Changing APH rate to AAA rate

Hi, I have recently booked a deluxe room at the PBH for 3 nights in Oct direct through the Loews website using the APH rate. I have since found out that if I am a member of the AA over here in the UK this would entitle me to AAA rate which would work out cheaper than the APH rate. Also I believe booking using the AAA rate will class as a qualifting stay for my loews membership. My question is what is the easiest way to change me reservation to AAA rate. Should I just cancel the reservation on line and then re-book, or would you contact the hotel diretly and see if they can switch the existing resercation onto AAA rate?
