Changing AAA room only to a package?

I am in the process of planning 2 trips to Disney. One the first week of June for the family and one the middle of Dec 2010 for our anniversary. I am considering booking AAA room only discounts and waiting to see if Disney will give me a better discount.
With that said if a better discount does not come out could I add tickets and dining to my AAA room or would I have to cancel the room only and book a complete package through AAA? If I do have to start over from scratch how would that work with the deposit and any payments I made? Would I have to pay again and then wait for a refund on the room?

Your AAA TA would be able to convert your current room only to a package deal. The downside is that AAA would have to make changes to any ressies once they book the package. Some people don't like giving up control.

We are also thinking of doing this, however ultimately we want a package so I priced the package out both ways and I'm taking an $80 chance(package rate through AAA) that a special will come out for our dates if I book directly with Disney.

You can book a room only AAA rate directly with Disney and then if a better rate/pin/promotion comes along they can switch the rate. If, you need to book a package(dining and tickets) and want the AAA rate, you need to do so through AAA.

If you have a room only reservation and want to change it to a package, you will need to make a whole new reservation with a new deposit. Your original reservation will then be cancelled and the deposit will be refunded. This happens whether you do it all yourself, or if you go through a AAA agent.
If you have a AAA room only reservation, you can buy tickets without changing it to a package, but once you want to add the dining plan then it has to be a package.

great! That is what I was wondering. I guess I will just wait. My mom wants a package for the dining so booking the room only for the discount will not help me any.
