Changing a resort reservation?

We currently have reservations for 1/16-1/22 to stay at ASMu, but I think we want to change to the AoA Lion King suite...how do I do that?

Call the main reservation number and have them check availability at AoA for your dates. If it's available, the CM can easily modify your reservation :).
 
Just call Disney. Have your current reservation number and be prepared to explain what you want to change to. Also, be prepared for any price differences and the possibility that what you want maybe sold out. You might want to have different options in mind. They won't cancel your exsisting booking until you have decided what you want and it doesn't affect your ADRs. It is very easy to change. Be sure to ask if there are any specials available that you may not know about. :thumbsup2

If the OP is just changing resorts, the existing reservation will be modified and not cancelled. The only time cancelling/rebooking is required is when changing reservation types (going from room only to a package and vice versa).

I'm at 50 days out, and tried to change my resort yesterday. The CM told me that my "change to" resort had no availability. But I can go to the Disney web page and plan a vacation (put a vacation offer in my shopping cart) for the time of my stay for all but two of the room types with no restrictions. Is there a legit reason for this discrepancy, or might she have made a mistake?

Do you have some type of discount that you are trying to apply from the first reservation to the last one? :confused3

Since you are more than 45 days out, could you just book the new one online and then cancel the old one? (although that would probably mess up trip insurance if you purchased that)
 
I would think cancelling your reservation and making a new one also messes up any ADRs you've made. I'd call Disney and explain what you were able to do online before I cancelled anything.
 
Having a discount will limit the availability. You may see rack rate rooms available on the website but those are not available with the discount. I've seen people try to checkout with something in their cart without success and the website glitches because it is no longer available, but hasn't refreshed its inventory yet. I'd try again over the phone just in case though.

ADRs are entirely separate. If you cancelled your trip today your dining reservations would stay in place and would need to be cancelled separately.

This happened to me with free dining offer. CM couldn't do it. I booked on line while she waited on phone. Once I was booked, she cancelled my first CSR reservation and I had my BC CSR reservation with FD in place. She said sometimes that happens, glad it all worked out for you.
