Forgive me if this post is a duplicate, I (or the DIS) seem to be having some trouble!

If I were to make ressies for 2 resorts for a split stay and then changed my mind and were able to stay at the 1st resort longer (or switch to a 2nd resort I hadn't planned on), do they charge a penalty? Would I be paying 2 deposits when the original ressies are made and do I risk losing the 2nd deposit? We would use AAA for room-only, or go with a package if they do the free dining again or something equivalent in value. I've never done a split stay and I'd like to know a little more of the financial drawbacks. I honestly wouldn't want to move up to a deluxe for a few days of relaxing at the pool if the weather turned nasty and cold... a waste of money to me... and the weather channel at best would only give a decent forecast about 10 days out. Not bad if there is a 5 day cancellation policy, but very bad if it's 45 days! Thanks in advance for all advice... there is a great bunch of folks here. :flower:

Well, if you were booking a room while on site it would be at rack rate unless you tried to do it through CRO and they still have AAA available so it would be best to know what you are doing ahead of time.

Yes, you would pay 2 deposits if you booked 2 resorts. I would assume you would risk lose that second deposit if you cancelled while you were there and it was less than 5 days out. Now, if you were going to change the reservation to your first resort, I hope they would transfer that deposit, but if it's less than 5 days, I guess I don't know. That's an interesting question.

Good luck.

Hi, we wound up doing this last August - not AAA, but annual pass rates. We stayed at the Swan, then Poly and plan was to move to CR after 3 Poly days. We were tired of moving and asked the Poly if we could just stay. They were extremely happy we decided to stay and used our CR deposit toward our Poly stay, and we did get the AP rate for the rest of our Poly days. They took care of everything. It was only the day before we were going to have to move again that we decided to look into this. Not 5 days out, either. We never had to phone CRO.

I hope this helps, but I don't know the AAA rules.

Thanks for the responses! :flower:
It seems like this is definitely worth me looking into. If there was no chance of not losing the deposit I wouldn't bother, but it sounds like they are reasonable. I'd like to try 2 different resorts, most people say the switch is easy and I'd love to end my stay with a few days relaxing at a deluxe and avoid the parks.
