Changes to onboard bookings conditions - Disney Cruise Line

Looks like a change to the onboard discounts, DCL will be imposing time limits for future bookings and to receive those savings you must cruise within 18-months, for those with a current onboard booking you'll have until 30 Nov 2015 and If you don't sail by that date then you'll loose the savings and onboard credits.

If you've an existing booking and onboard credit, you should receive the following email......

Thank you for booking your next Disney Cruise Line vacation utilizing the onboard booking offer.

As a Guest with an existing future cruise booking that was made onboard, we wanted to let you know about an important change in our Onboard Sales Program. Beginning November 12, 2013, all new onboard bookings must complete travel within 18 months from the date booked in order to maintain the onboard booking benefits.

We truly value your commitment to sail with us again and realize that you may have booked your future cruise reservation awaiting school schedules or our 2015 summer itineraries. In recognition of these factors, we are providing Guests who currently have an existing onboard booking an additional 6 months to travel.

This means that you must sail on your existing cruise reservation with the onboard booking benefits prior to November 30, 2015. Guests who are unable to sail within 24 months will have any current onboard booking benefits removed from their reservation. You may still modify your sail dates within the 24 month timeframe as long as these modifications are done outside of any applicable cancellation period.

Saw this yesterday, we already have a dummy date booked and were planning on sailing in 2015 so that's not a problem for that trip.

It will stop me booking onboard again though. Short of winning the lottery (still hoping!) I certainly cannot afford to cruise with DCL that frequently. Added to the changes they made to onboard credit for Gold and Platinum castaway members they certainly haven't made themselves popular over on the cruise cruise board.

We didn't make an onboard booking last time we cruised in 2011, we thought that would be the last we did with rising prices.
Last night I checked prices for a 7 night cruise in April 2015, $1,500 more than we have paid for 14 night transatlantic. Waaay beyond my limit.
Unless a deal comes along next years will be our last.

We also have a dummy booking for December 2014 and would like to move it to December 2015 but looks like we need to use it before or we'll loose the savings. That will be our 5th Disney cruise and with the rising prices and time restricted savings it will more than likely be our last.

Just checked some prices for 2015 - Ouch!! After Sept we are stuck to school holidays so that added to theor price increase looks like i may not be cruising with DCL again for a while!
