Changes to Magic Key

Changes just announced for Magic Key program; Enchant will be retired and replaced by Explore. $25 price increase but includes some weekdays over the summer now. https://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/202512/11205/

Personally, I kinda like this. I hope they'll let us "upgrade" into it - I'd be willing to pay an extra $25 to get those summer weekdays. (I'm local now, and hitting the park roughly once a week - it'd be nice to keep that going.) But I'm a little bit worried they'll consider it a crossgrade and not allow that. I guess we'll see in January.

The only thing I can't figure out is why they didn't simply change the blockout calendar. Everything I've seen suggests that that's the only major change. (One blog was noting that the parking discount was now only valid at Toy Story, but it was already like that.) I had to wonder if they were doing this to avoid setting a precedent that blockout calendars can be changed after they're announced.

(And/or to give themselves a chance to grab another $25 from existing Enchant Keys.)

Why oh why do they insist on using this cutsie names. If they don't want to use So Cal, Deluxe, Premium etc. Maybe they could use Broze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. At least those give you some idea of what the levels are. [/Rant over]

This is so true!! I've had the top level key since they first went on sale but I STILL can't remember what it's called Am I Imagine? Inspire? LOL.

I wonder if they'll increase the number of blackout dates for the rest of the year for Explore. That's my concern since they did not release a blackout calendar for Explore, and it would have been easy enough to just unblock the summer weekday dates for existing Enchant key holders while increasing its price by $25.

Congratulations goes out to disney. I'm sure it has been on their bucket list for quite some time to get that cheapest non-local key to $1000. Whatever genius came up with this idea is definitely getting a membership to the Jelly of the Month Club.

If you buy a magic key online, when is the first day of your year? Is it that day or when you visit the parks? Sorry I tried to find this on the website but I didn't see it....

First day you use it, expect for renewal which just extend your expiration a year.

I know for several years now, people on the boards have mentioned how summer months are really not too bad crowd-wise, and I wonder if this will change dramatically because of the change in AP access?

I think it will definitely impact weekday crowds in the summer, which is what Disney wants.

Summer was pretty "dead" the last two years

So makes sense Disney is allowing more MK's in the park to fill in the gap and then can remove the pass if the parks get too busy

I know fans hate DIsney but they seem to be playing the market very well, they are trying to find a way to make every cent while filling the parks up but nothing insane

If you want to see what an insane park looks like go to Knotts Merry Farm, its a mess...like a complete mess right now

Summer is when many people go on vacation. Local MK holders don't tend to vacation at Disneyland.
