It has been 3 yrs since we've been to WDW (way too long!) However, that is about to change. We will be doing EPCOT on 3/27 and the Living Seas has always been a favorite of DS's. I've heard that there were some changes done there. Can someone please clue me in as to what was changed? Thanks!

I believe, also, that the manitees are gone. I didn't see them a couple weeks ago. I seem to remember them being gone last July as well.

It is not as good as it used to be. At least the dolphins are still there but they did take out a lot of things.

Too bad!! When did all this happen?

We were there in mid February and the manatees were still there. The seacab ride is gone. Loosing the seacab takes a lot of the fun out of the exhibit.

The manatees were scheduled to be released back to their home in the wild. (They had been rehabilitated.) :) I'm sure they'll be replaced with others that need special care.

Thank you for the replies. DS will be very disappointed about the manatees. Hopefully the other changes won't be to disappointing to him.

Why be disappointed? They were rehabilitated! It is a GOOD thing. :)

LOL I know it's a good thing. I just know how much he enjoys watching them. He'll be happy for them :)

I've been wondering why they took out the seacabs, too. I'm assuming they took it out for the budget cutbacks, but it doesnt seem like running the ride would cost all that much?

I didn't realize that the seacabs were gone! Bummer! I am going to miss them. Hopefully they will do more refurb!

The Seacabs have been gone for quite some time. I doubt this is a refurbishment. THe Living Seas definitely needs some work, though.

If your son wants to see Manitees, they have an excellent exhibit at SeaWorld in Orlando. They are being rehabilitated, and you can see how man has adversely affected these wonderful, peaceful creatures.

Thanks, we saw the manatees at SeaWorld on our last visit to FL and hadn't planned on going there this trip. However, our plans seem to keep changing so it very well could end up on our to do list.

This makes me sad. The youngest manatee was born when we were there on our honeymoon, and every trip, we stop by to say hello. I am glad they will be released into the wild.

I think we missed something in the Living Seas. We saw the Manatees. We saw one tank (2 levels of viewing) with some fish. We then saw one empty tank. That was it. We didn't see dolphins or anything. We were actually really disappointed that we had walked back to that side of Epcot just to go to this attraction.

what are the sea cabs? Are they the cars that you sit and ride in or the elevator thing that you take to the exhibit?

The Seacabs were what you rode AFTER the Hydrolators.
