Changed Ressie, was SSR now BCV

I just got off the phone with MS and was able to secure the fifth night (Sun - Thu) of our 1st DVC trip this coming July 11-16, 2004.

I had orginally made the reservation at our home resort, SSR, on December 1st and was hopeful, but surprised to find all 5 nights available at BCV at 7 months for the summer. Our kids will love it.

I was also glad that the last day that I needed to call happened to be today instead of tomorrow, 12/17/03, when MS may be or may not be getting a lot of calls for the SSR grand opening event.

Our first trip will use all 150 of our June 2004 points and require another 50 to be borrowed from 2005. I want to see the model rooms at SSR & also get my wife to listen to the DVC sales pitch.

The flu I don't need, but the add-on fever might not be so bad?

Thank you to all of you that made deciding to purchase and how to make, cancel, and re-make reservations at 7 months so easy.

I was under the impression that SSR members could not book other resorts until February? I am missing something or did DVC make a mistake. I would like to book BCV for the summer but thought I had to wait.

The February date that you may be thinking of is when non-SSR DVC members can begin to make reservations for SSR. I have also read many prior posts of other SSR owners making non-SSR reservations at the 7 month window. I think the only situlation was that it had to be for after when SSR opens on May 17th.

My vacation just happens to be in mid-July, but if I had wanted to go in June, my understanding is that I could have called even prior to the Dec 1st SSR reservation starting date for any of the other 6 DVC resorts as long as it was at the 7 month window.

Anyone else agree or disagree with this information? Thanks.

You are absolutely correct, Rex.

I actually made a ressie at BCV before the December 1 date. I was within the 7-month booking window for non-home resorts for my May/June stay, so I made the reservation toward the end of November.

Wasn't sure how busy things would be on 12/1, so I just make the reservation early for BCV. We'll stay at SSR next time.
