Changed dates to get Free Dining?

Wondering who out there has changed their ressie from early or mid August to get the free dining, it would be interesting to know. We are going early August and wondering if this will thin out the crowds a little for our dates.

I know my DIL did. She had 4 rooms at Pop for mid August and just switched them to 4 rooms at Music for mid-September. She has 10+ kids to feed, so she had to do the free dining or no trip at all. Unfortunately now all of the kids will miss a week of school. We will cancel our 3 rooms at Pop, but are still going mid-August and staying at OKW with my points. I'm sure there will be alot of changing of trips today. But mostly there should be some openning at hard to get restraurants for ADRs, since most folks had them booked already.

Just curious to see how many of you cancelled ressies earlier in August after you were able to move your vacation to the free dining weeks?

I did! Anyone else?

(I guess I'm wearing my rose colored glasses this morning . Still have in the back of my head that maybe enough people cancelled earlier Aug reservations, that so many rooms opened up that Disney will eventually offer those weeks with free dining too!)

Is anyone else thinking (or wishing for) the same thing?

You better believe I'm thinking AND wishing for that to happen! I didn't cancel, still holding our ressies for August 5th. Whatever happens, it doesn't matter---we'll still be at Disney!!

We didn't cancel since it is our only time we can go, Aug 17 to Aug 25, but we did change resorts yesterday due to a family situation and unexpected travel expense. We were staying at WL but now staying at CSR.

We were going to stay at POR since I knew I could get the AAA rate, but I wanted to stay at CSR for a change but last time I checked there was no AAA rate available. I refuse to pay rack rate. My AAA emailed me yesterday saying we was able to get CSR with the AAA rate so she booked me at CSR knowing that was my first preference.

Knowing what I have read on the boards, obtaining an AAA rate at CSR is usually not that easy so maybe that is a sign that people are cancelling and or changing their dates around now.

One can only hope for free dining to be expanded or a greater discount. I think the current promotion ends in June so I wouldn't expect to hear anything until after that.
