Change to Finding Dory script

I don't know if I will cruise again or not. If I do not it will be because of price and not the pollution caused by cruise ships. I drive a car, I fly in a plane and my home is a natural pollutant. I do however champion cetaceans and strongly advocate for non captivity.I am also a vegetarian.I can't stand the feeling of biting into flesh.

Hmmm. OK.

I agree with you completely. Those that want to champion a cause do it 99% of the time without ever taking the time to figure out that their "solution" isn't going to work.

Animals that have been in captivity for long periods of time cannot just simply be released.

And I still don't understand why so many jump on the bandwagon of the whales and such but have no issue with making monkey faces at the gorillas behind the glass at AK.

To me, it doesn't seem like the gorillas are being starved with food as an incentive to do tricks. Not saying one park is better than another in that respect. I have been to discovery cove and seaworld. One thing that struck me at discovery cove was how stressed the rays seemed in the snorkel area. They were just crammed in a tiny space and add humans, just seemed like a crowded , stressful environment for them.
In contrast, I have been snorkeling off of key largo, where the undersea environment was much more tranquil.
The important point is, I think it is good to raise awareness. Once you learn something you didn't know before, you cannot unlearn it. What an individual does with that knowledge is something only he can decide.

The whales at Sea World do not seem starved either. You know, my dogs will do tricks for treats. It doesn't take starving them to get them to do it. I am no Sea World trainer but I assume its the same thing. The whales at Sea Wold are beautiful and I see nothing about them that makes one feel they are mistreated. (and starving them would be mistreatment)

How did the rays seem stressed? What were they doing?

I will jump in and say to the tiger point, tigers are extremely endangered in the wild. Without intervention they would go extinct (because some people are idiots and think they possess magical powers when consumed). For the most part, the marine mammals in captivity are not endangered species.

I know. I guess my point is that Disney is jumping on a convenient bandwagon that just so happens to give a jab at sea world. Which isn't just one park, but a whole group, just like Disney is t just the magic kingdom.

In some circumstances animals in captive are a good thing. Lol, it is sort of like keeping the cat in the house. By nature they are hunters, etc and belong in the outdoors. They are much safer in.

Rather bold statement, don't ya think?
I suggest you research sea pens and rehab and release programs and their success. A good place to start is seashepherdguardians.com, thedolphinproject, theislandinstitute. The Island Institute recently released 3 dolphins in Korea. These dolphins were held in captivity for years. One immediately rejoined her original pod. The other two successfully integrated into other pods. It can and is being done. And please don't reference "Free Willy". Research the facts about this whale and understand what actually happened.
I'm not jumping on a "bandwagon". I've been researching and have been a voice for cetaceans for 40 years. It may not be 99% of the time as you suggest but I do have to eat and care for my family as well!

How do you know what the storyline of a movie still in production is anyway?

Disney seems to change their mind about storylines midstream a lot. Rapunzel is a good example. (I only know of this after the fact too).

And Brave

The rays in the sea just kind of glided along peacefully. I can compare them to the rays at the living seas... they just glide along and do their thing. The rays in the snorkel area would swim not horizontally but vertically up and down and erratically. It is hard to explain. They would come from the sandy bottom and swim very fast in kind of an upward and downward zig-zag.

This is from Ric O'Barry's dolphin Project website..."Training of dolphins is often deliberately misrepresented by the captive dolphin industry to make it look as if dolphins perform because they like it. This isn't the case. They are performing because they have been deprived of food."

I think everyone who has an interest in this kind of thing can learn and research... there is so much information available.... and then come to their own conclusions.
