Change in resort guard-shack practice

Kind of OT, but if NJ has no photo on older licenses, how is drinking age enforced? I live in a college town and fake ID's are a big problem. RI went digital a few years ago so I get my (icky photo) new license mailed to me after I pay in 4 more years. No need to go get a new license. I can't even "lose" my license to get a new pic :sad2:

So how is age enforced for various reasons? Just curious.

As far as enforcing legal drinking age its enforced this way - anyone who is even questionable in legality cannot use a non photo ID as proof.

Even now that NJ has gone digital, if you are over 55 you dont have to get a digital license - you can still do the mail in n on phot ID.

We were at SSR the last week in March and security warned us that if we went thru the gate at any resort that we would probably be required to show our drivers license. He said to use the guest key card gate so we would not be delayed entering SSR. The policy show ID at a resort other than the one you are registered has been in effect.
I can only guess that people leave their cars unlocked and the resort dash passes are stolen and used to enter the parks and etc. It is a additional layer of security for the resorts to keep out potential thieves or whatever.

We were asked for our driver's license in December. When I once accidentally pulled out my library card instead of my dl and was not questioned it got me to wondering and I started doing all sorts of things, resort card backward, credit card instead of dl etc and was not questioned once. Could be cause I am an overweight, middle aged white woman. :sad2: I have always felt safe at DW but I do not feel any safer now.

IMO, too many of the things done in the name of security are expensive and unnecessary but then I do not live in a major urban area so it might just be my perspective.

Slightly Goofy

It depends on which resort you are driving into. Property wide, the license check began after 9/11.

When I am going into a resort and I don't have a resort parking pass on my dashboard, I have noticed that some of the guards write down my name and license plate number. Other times, they do not. I don't think there is a standard policy on this or it would be the same everywhere.

We had never been asked for ID until this last trip (except perhaps when checking in to the Poly at the start of our trip when we have no parking pass). When we drove to the Yacht Club for dinner in early March they asked for it and appeared to write something down after my dh handed it to the guard. At the Poly we always use the keyguard gate. I don't recall AKL asking for it at all. (could be my memory though, lol) We always have a valet tag for the car, as well as the on-site guest parking pass visible.

I'm glad they ask for it, I have no problem with it at all.

My best friend used to be a Security Hostess who worked nights in the kiosk at OKW, CBR, and more recently WL.

There is a method to the madness.. and although the reason may not seem apparent, there are some legitimate reasons.

Oh, and yes, even *I* had to show her my license.

By the way... the sad part is... there were a lot of people (especially gypsy cab drivers) who didn't have a license.
