change in reservations

I reserved 3 rooms for my extended family in early December. I just found out that one of the groups will only be staying 5 days while the rest will be staying 7. My travel agent said Disney wanted to cancel that one room and rebook. The only problem was they couldn't give us the same room at the same rate. They want to charge $30 more a day for a waterfront room. When I check in , can I just talk to the front desk about short staying one room. Is there a penalty. My travel agent said Disney wouldn't tell her if there was a penalty.

I would contact your TA again. This can be done in advance and he/she should be able to take care of this for you. I would definitely contact your TA again.

This is what my travel agent sent to me."It is a 5 day prior to arrival cancellation policy, but there is nothing about checking out early. They said that is handled by each individual resort on a case to case basis. " I'm still confused as to why we can just adjust the room. I'm wondering if I should have done all this on my own!

I have had to check out early due to childrens illnesses before. As with everything else, Disney handled it graciously.

I just changed one of our ressies from 6 days to 4 days, and my AAA TA didn't indicate there'd be any problem. This is the 2nd time I've modified this ressie, and it still has the same reservation # on it.

Maybe there is a difference in what type of rate you booked, but I can't see how it would benefit Disney to make it hard for you to let them know you will check out of one room early.
