Change in CRT menu?

they got rid of the Fairy Godmother too! :sad2:

No bippity boppity boo song or twinkle lights...we asked our server about it and he said, "Changes keep things fresh" -- true, but I still missed the "magic" of them turning the lights down low and her singing the iconic song with one of the rare chances to meet the mice.

Now, think of the experience ala Akershus. Princesses Aurora, Belle, Snow White and Ariel. And that's just 1 TS credit, but no professional photo w/ Cinderella in the castle--it's a professional photo w/ Belle.

As far as the 2 TS credits--my DH & I had the very same conversation when we were presented the menu (we were there 9/20/10). The food was good but not great, especially compared to our visits in 2007, 2008 and 2009 which has been one of the reasons we go back year after year and just go to Norway instead.

Hope this helps!

Since they are not having the Godmother there, are they still doing the stars, wands, and swords?

We ate here last week, and were disappointed with the new menu. Our waitress told us they have a new chef who changed most of the menu. Since the change they have had numerous complaints from customers about the differences (especially with the desserts). We loved CRT last year when we went, but it was definitely not worth the cost this year. The food was only so~so. We had way better meals throughout the parks then we did at the castle last week.

From what I can remember, the lunchtime kids menu offered chicken tenders, hotdogs, cheesy macaroni with marinara sauce and grilled chicken, chicken noodle soup, and a couple other items. Dessert for a child was "tiny" sundae or raspberry sorbet.

Our appetizer had some sort of artichoke salad, 4 slices of bruschetta bread, 4 cubes of cheese and a couple dozen grapes for our family of 5.

**They are still doing the wands, swords and wishing stars.**

Sadly, we'll most likely skip this one next time we go. The experience and the atmosphere is still great, but I can't justify the cost of the meal for all of us to go there again :sad1: I wish they would at least bring back the buckle cake. That was heavenly!!

I was purusing the new lunch menu on-line and realized my DD will not eat any of the current adult entrees. Last time we went (Nov. 2008) my DD ordered, and loved, the Pasta al Pomodoro which seems to have been removed from the menu.

My confusion began when I read the CRT lunch over-view on the WDW website.

Copied from WDW Website:
After much fanfare, lunch begins with a surprise specialty appetizer, ordered by no less than Cinderella herself. Then it's on to an unforgettable main course with choices ranging from pan-seared salmon to pasta al pomodoro for the adults, and chicken strips or other favorites for the kids.

Can anyone confirm that the posted lunch menu on Disneyworld.com is accurate? I will have to cancel our res. if it is..... this is not a restaurant to "try" new things, not at these OOP prices!

I can't tell you about the swords since I only have a daughter, but the wand we got is a dinky wand that you could probably find from Oriental Trading. They no longer have the wands with the CRT logo on it.

As far as the stars, are you referring to the light blue star wands that they would give to the baby girls or the dark blue star wands? When we were there that day, we did not get those old style wands as we had in years past. Instead, we got a purple, marabou-trimmed wand. Blah.

As far as the menu, I took a picture of it, but it's a new camera & still learning how to download onto the computer. I'll ask DH to do it for me and see if I can somehow attach the menu.

I should clarify, we were there for lunch. We asked our server if the experience was different for dinner and he said it was exactly the same as our lunch experience.

Also, I got distracted in my earlier post & wasn't clear--given that the experiences are pretty much the same now, Cindy's vs. Akershus, I think I wouldn't be heartbroken if we didn't make it into Cindy's, esp. w/ the whole 2 TS credits vs. the 1 TS credits. They are the same exact princesses & it really felt like, "same thing, different day."

Now, I will tell you we tried 1900 Park Fare for dinner for the first time (Cinderella, Prince Charming, the stepmother & stepsisters), now that was GREAT!!! The interaction between Cinderella & the stepsisters & stepmother--that's hilarious. In fact, in one of the photos the step sister is covering the "awful stain" that my daughter had on her shirt with her hand and dress--what was the awful stain? It was a Cinderella shirt that I got my DD from MK just for the occasion. Really funny stuff. Even my DH and the hubbies from the other tables were laughing & smiling at some of the pranks they were pulling off. WORTH IT.

Yup! This is the new menu, they recently went through a menu-change (probably late August/early September) and the .pdf that you link to is the new dinner menu!

Btw to everyone, Cobia is a fish, I assume in the place of the salmon.

Thanks for the info...I was going to look up what Cobia is...I like fish but that is a new one by me...DH will actually like the fried chicken....Just wondering the the child offering are.

I think allears is a great website, but I always find there menu's to not be accurate, now that disney posts most of there menu's I follow what on the WDW website.

I think she has been gone since mid Feb, when they changed dinner to an actual character meal.

Does anyone have pictures of the recent foods they now offer?

oh wow... ok..hmm... I'm a little sad, but I think I'll be OK... the choices aren't that terrible! I like that they have new desserts, I will however miss the BLT salad and the soup :/

then again, the best menu they had was in 2005! if i can get over that i can get over anything!

If you order the slipper, do they also get the regular dessert as well? Also, do they write their name in chocolate with the slipper, or is it just the chocolate slipper--can't remember now!!

Yes you will get both. I've ordered two for my girls' birthdays...one for each of them with their names on the plate. They were $12.50 plus tax. We're on the dining plan using two credits but will have to pay for the slippers OOP. Been torn about switching but since I can't get anything else in December we're sticking with it. It ours last day dinner and my Girls birthday celebrations...they'll love it no matter what. I thought about paying OOP but then looked at the OOP price...holy smokes! I could upgrade do deluxe dining for that.

Thanks! Yes, it is ridiculous for OOP. We all went last year, and this year I've really been selling Akershus, but she really wants to go back to CRT. We decided that I'll take her and DH will take DS9 to a CS of his choice--he doesn't want to go back!

Since DD is 6, I know that my years of her really wanting to do this are numbered, so we'll do it. I would never do it unless I had a DD who was really into it, though--IMO there are much better places to have a romantic meal!

In my signature there is a link for my pictures from September there are some from dinner at CRT. :)

Haha no problem! It's actually pretty good, but I've only had it once. As for the children's menu, they actually just finalized changes for it in the last week or so. I'm pretty sure that they got rid of the hot dog, and added a new kid's pizza option. There's also chicken tenders/nuggets and some type of fish option. I'm not 100% sure about all of the details and everything but if you give me a few days, I'll try to get a menu and post back!

I saw that, but that was all food that was from the old menu. The same meal I had last trip, myself. Chocolate buckle and prime rib is gone now.

We'll be eating there before MVMCP on 11/18 for dinner for the first time. I have to say that although I was really looking forward to FINALLY trying the Chocolate Buckle, I'm pretty OK with the menu changes...However, to find out that you no longer get the CRT wand we've seen for years, and that you get a dinky little wand is really upsetting. I personally love all the great Disney tchotchke take-homes that we've picked up over the years, and this really bums me out. I will be sure to let the manager know when we're there, and I may even write to Disney because it's just getting to be too much with cutbacks in the Dining Experiences. :sad2:

Just wanted to add that we are still excited to eat there, and will go into the meal with a positive attitude, hoping for the best. :goodvibes

Thank you so much for finding the children menu for us...can't wait for your post if I need to cancel or keep...crossing my fingers there is something my son could eat.

Thank you so much, I'll read him the menu (he might eat at the Cheese pizza). My son is the one who requested to eat here so I'll read him the menu and he can tell us if he still wants to eat here. For me personally its not a really good choice of food but then its the eating in the castle (the things we do for us kids.)
THANK YOU for the time to get the menu and post it here...I appreciate it...:goodvibes
