What do you think the chances of an early May package discount coming out? Has there ever been free dining at this time of the year? Hoping......:goodvibes

You can actually add tickets and the dining plan to the room only promo that is out right now. Simply go to the special offers page on the Disney site and click on the room only offer. Then, after you get the room quote, you'll see the option to add tickets and dining.

I have never heard of free dining during May. It's usually in the Fall months.

The gift card offer is what is considered "the package" discount for that time frame. I don't think they will offer another one.

PP - What happens if you have a package booked with the gift card? Just wondering if it is better to rebook the way you stated or leave as is.

I would price it out and see which one is the better deal for your family. I had the package booked with the gift card but when the room only promo came out (quite some time ago), I called and modified the vacation. The last two days of my vacation fell outside of the offer but it was still a better deal than the gift card. Today, the newest offer came out so I called, again, and asked that they modify my reservation because my last two days fell within the new time frame. I saved an additional $70.00 from just today's call.

***Edited to add: When I modified the vacation, I was able to keep the package I had booked. They just applied the room discount (both times).

We did the numbers both ways when we booked online for our May trip. If we used the GC option $500 instead I would have saved $17 instead of the 35% off discount for the room only discount. We are staying 8 days so the room is 35% off instead of 30%.

When I did those numbers I included the cost of the Dining Plan. If we used the GC I would have added it once we got there. To us $17 did not seem worth the effort to book the package to get the GC and then add dining once we got there after they gave us the GC.

Just do the math by playing with the online reservation site to get the numbers. Make sure you start at the main special offers page so the discounts are automatically included in the calculations.

Thanks everyone - I think I figured it out. Just some information: when doing the calculations for clients that have the gift card offer and are staying at a value or mod, the gift card offer is almost always better. For clients staying at a deluxe the new code is better. Hope that helps someone else out there. :)

So, if I am receiving the gift card, I can apply this to the dining plan? I did not know this?
I was thinking the dining plan had to be pd for before we arrived w/ the package.

The gift card cannot be used to purchase the dining plan, but it can be used to pay for meals, gratuities, etc. If you take the dining plan it needs to be added about a week prior to your vacation. HTH

Just wanted to clarify that you can't add the dining plan once you get to Disney. It has added 5 days prior to arrival.

Just to confirm that we did price out the 2 (GC & discount) & we are staying in May & staying at a moderate & the GC was a better deal. We are not doing the DP.

i think it depends on how many people are in you group too
I priced ours out for 15 nights the discounted room at the mod was better
But I priced out 2 more packages for friends
and one had 3 kids 2 over 10
and the 5 day package was better I figured out the 5 day package with a 8 day park pass then did a 5 day room only and they saved almost $500 total
then i did one for another family with 2 kids under 10 and the room was better I did 10 days both ways again and the room discount with the rest added worked out to $100 cheaper for them
