We are planning on taking my in-laws to WDW in October, 2009. I have secured enough points at my home resort (SSR) to book a 3-br villa. What are the chances of getting it? What are the chances of getting the villa at OKW at 7 months out?

TIA,
Nancy

Edited to add: If we cannot get a GV what are the chances of getting two 2-brs close in proximity to each other?

You will have a better chance at your home resort than OKW by using your 11 mth priority. I would call every day to get the ressie you want.

If you are asking "what are my chances of getting at GV at SSR at the 11 month window for Oct?"....I'd say 100% if you call day by day:)
Now GV OKW at 7 months....less than 50-50

I secured a GV at SSR for Jan 2009 at 11 months out no problem:thumbsup2 I didn't even call day by day. In fact I used the email DVC option on our DVC page and requested it:cool1:

I'd concur though if one uses the wait list, I'd increase the chances of getting OKW to somewhere around 80-90% for Oct depending in part on HOW you use the wait list.

Good point with the waitlist....day by day waitlist would certainly increase her chances, but depending on ones personality, blood pressure as well.:)

The wait list is tricky, esp with the # of points involved for this type of reservation. Actually a 2 BR plus a studio would be a fair amount less points at both resorts and give more options and flexibility such as if some wanted the DDP and others didn't, or one needed to change or cancel part or all later.

We tried to get a GV at OKW for this Oct. and could not get it at 7 months out. It was Columbus Day weekend also.

We are planning to go after Columbus Day (our Thanksgiving is the same day) but are also flexible on anytime during October.

I am quite content with SSR but thought that being able to be at OKW would allow us to stay longer (which would be nice as we come from far away).

Am I right in thinking that if I can secure a ressie at SSR that I can call at the 7 month mark and try to get a ressie somewhere else and if I am successful I can just cancel at SSR and then use those points for wherever I get? Does that make any sense? lol :D

It does make sense, you can do exactly as you plan. Since OKW is less points, make sure any points freed up are "current UY points" so you'll be able to bank them if needed.

What about a GV for August 2009?
My home resort is AKV and I cannot recall if they have GVs.
Any thoughts on what my chances look like booking at a non-home resort at the 7-month window???????????
