Good day! Dh and I are going to be at DL/CA on Sunday. We just have one day because we are going to be there at the end of a work trip. We are planning to get park hopper so we can see both parks, first trip there for both of us. Do you think DL will close for capacity during the day? I know if will be busy and we are expecting that. I just don't want to go the CA and miss the parade in DL. Thanks for Amy other tips!!

I know this weekend will be busy as its getting closer to the holidays, but have not heard of anything particular going on for it to potentially be at capacity???

I would also go expecting the parks to be busy, but not necessarily at capacity closure levels. Capacity closures usually happen during the peak holiday periods (e.g., week between Christmas and New Years, 4th of July, etc.). While anything is possible, I would be surprised if DL or DCA hit any of the capacity closure levels this Sunday.

FWIW, on days when I expect the park to reach capacity, I arrive at park opening and don't leave until I'm done for the day. That way there's no chance I'll be "locked out." I know you want to go to CA. I'd simply be mindful of the fact that once you leave DL, there's a chance you may not get back in. Obviously, check the lines before leaving.

I will be there this Sunday as well. I don't expect it to reach capacity. I know that Touring Plans is far from perfect, but they have the parks being a 5 out of 10 on the crowd scale. That is pretty unrealistic. I'm sure it will be a lot more crowded than that. Last year "what they saw" was a 8 for DL and 7 for DCA. It will be busy, most likely NOT at capacity.

No because: I don't think the parks have ever reached capacity outside of the Xmas to New Years week, 24 hour parties & dapper day (although the dapper day one was a while back now I think).

The parks usually only reach capacity for a reason: Xmas-New Year holiday, special promotion, grand opening of an attraction, etc. Also it can reach capacity on the first sunny day after a big rainstorm.

It has hit several times on summer days, it hits often on the 5th (not the last couple years though.)

This past weekend for Candlelight, they had congestion closures. Since entry was one directional, they would close the turnstiles til the congestion around the parade lessened, then reopened for a few minutes, then would close again. This happened in 5 minute spurts between 315p and 410p.

Thanks for the info everyone! We are so excited and expect there to be lots of people but will just do what we can do and enjoy being at Disneyland!!
