Chances of being put into QFSB/Custodial if I don't check it?

If do not check QFSB or Custodial on my role checklist, and tell the interviewer I would not do those things if she asks, is there any chance of me being put into them anyways?

I just cannot work with food or clean restrooms, and it'd be a shame if I had to decline the program because of this.

Yes. I know people who have been accepted for QSFB, and did not select it. So there is a chance it could happen.

I was put into QSFB and didn't select it. I was a little disappointed at first but now I'm kind of excited about it. I'm not a very good cook so that's the only thing that still worries me. I understand where you're coming from I thought about not doing the program also but I changed my mind and it would be cool to try something new and people have a lot of positive things to say about QSFB and custodial as well! I hope you get the choice you want good luck!! :goodvibes

I think a lot of it depends on how early you interview and what's available at the time of your interview role-wise. For the most part I think they do try to give you one of your first 2 options, but if you interview later on they might only be able to give you what's available. Just explain your concerns during your interview and I'm sure they'll make note of it.

Not necessarily true. My son interviewed in early February and got his last choice for roles. But.....he was still ecstatic to be selected and can't wait to go!

That's possible. I guess it's all up to what role they need to fill up. I interviewed in January and was told that I most likely would get my first choice if I got accepted, which I did. Guess I lucked out lol. Although, just like your son, no matter what I got I'd be ecstatic! :)

Well, I plan on applying on the day the applications come out, so hopefully they at least won't put me in something I didn't even check. :) Thanks.

My daughter didn't check QSFB and her first two choices were Character performer and character attendant. The interviewer outlined the audition process with her and said if she wasn't immediately selected as a performer that she would be put into a pool. My DD really wanted to be part of this program so as she was being interviewed, the interviewer was looking at her application (she works for Starbucks on campus, very busy Starbucks) and asked if she would add QSFB to her choices. She had checked 7 choices and added QSFB. She ended up with QSFB and is very happy to be there. Here's the cute part...her random roommate...a face character performer who is 5'2".

I guess I share that to say how much do you want to do CP? My DD jokes around and says that they'll probably put her at the coffee bar at the Poly:) She doesn't mind because she'll be spreading Disney Magic in June.

I did QSR for a little while and worked with a lot of CPs who did not choose it. They just need so many people for it that it is bound to happen. Really QSR is not that bad, the location I was at had the CPs working most front of house anyways so you would be handing guests their orders and filling soda rather than cooking the food. Just a heads up some merch locations also prepare food, all of the candy apple type places (like the confectionary) count as merchandise. I have never worked in custodial so I cannot say but I assume it is similar.

Yeah, I've done both custodial and QSFB. I didn't mind doing either. I was in Epcot WS for custodial, and Casey's Corner for QSFB. For both roles, I loved the location I ended up in, worked with great people, and learned a lot.

i wouldn't mind doing qsfb. i might actually check off qsfb backstage rather than onstage one on my role check list when i apply. but as for custodial, i don't think i could handle that.

I checked it off because I wasn't prepared to be asked if I wanted it, but I didn't get it. I think it's really up in the air, you could or couldn't.

I really don't think it's that bad, depending on what you like to do. A friend from my work picked up a ton of shifts in quick service and loved it. I have two roommates now that do it. One hates it, don't really know how the other one feels.

I wouldn't mind working at the confectionary or even a cart, but I just can't work at a place that serves actually fast food. My very first job ever was Burger King, and I only lasted one day. I came home very nauseous from the smell of fries and burgers all day. Needless to say, it's kind of scarred me for life.

There's too much of a chance that I would get down there and be put at Cosmic Rays or something, and then I'd have to self-term and would never be able to be hired at Disney again.

Also, I just can't clean bathrooms. I'm just one of those people who can't do that without gagging.

So, it's great that there's people who can do those things...because I like Disney food and clean bathrooms (:)), but I just can't.

I'll be checking like 9-10 things and applying as soon as the apps come out, so hopefully they will just put me in something I check. But now I have one more thing to worry about. :(

hahaha, i feel your pain. i have my own bathroom (that i alone use it) and clean it all the time. but i can't stand to clean a bathroom others have used. it's just one of my weird pet peeves.

When you apply and you do get QSFB, ask your recruiter if they could place you in Outdoor Food. Outdoor food (odf) mainly deals with selling snacks, like popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, chips, etc. That way you won't have to be around burgers or fast food that much. You still need to deal with burgers but not everyday like in counter-service restaurants and odf does not cook with fries. That is what I did when I got QSFB. I hate fast food, so I asked my recruiter what I should do and she was able to put me in odf. I only had to deal with the fast food (odf only cooks burgers and hotdogs, nothing else) once every few weeks. I hate custodial, too because I can't stand the smell of the chemicals used and the vomit (protein spills as they call it). I also can't stand cleaning bathrooms.

I really wouldn't mind ODF, but I know you can only request to be put there. There's still a chance I could get down there and be put in a restaurant. Did your recruiter act like it was a sure thing?

She did sounded like it was a sure thing. I am guessing recruiters help with picking where your location would be, so it is a good idea to always ask them. Odf picks up the most hours out of any role and they love it when people request to be put in that role. Just explain why you don't want counter-service and how it makes you sick and they would be happy to help you out.

They way it works with QSFB is the interviewer will ask you if you're open to it. If you say yes in any way, even if you say, "I guess, but it's not my 1st choice," they will mark that you are open to doing it and your recruiter can place you there. If you say no, they should mark not to place you there. They all ask, so just be careful how you word your response.
