Hi...this would be my first time to stay at the Grand Californian Villas. I am currently waitlisted for a studio June 9-12th. What are the odds of getting my request? It was mentioned to use points for hotel reservation points at the Disneyland Hotel..is this a waste? Do you think a 1 BR at the villas are more likely to pop up rather than a studio?
thank you

Well, the VGC seems to be pretty full for June 2011 right now. And since studios are lower points, it may be tough to match your waitlist.

However, a few months ago, I was waitlisting a one bedroom for June and two days later, it cleared. Of course, by then I had decided to save my BCV points for BCV and rent someone else's for VGC, so I gave the night back, which made me very sad, because I still want that night, but now we are at the bottom of the waitlist with the other owner's points...

This is why I need more points. If I had them, I would have had all the nights I wanted.

So to answer your question, you never know, but you might want a back-up plan just in case. In fact, I need a back-up plan for June, too. Good luck to both of us!

I would make other arrangements. If you can get a room at the Disneyland Hotel, then do it. I know DLH has been harder to get on points in recent years due to the towers being refurbished--they have about 1/3 of the rooms unavailable to guests at any given time.

As for your waitlist, unless you went on right at 7 months, I think the odds are pretty slim. If you just now went on the waitlist--barely 3.5 months out--there could be dozens of members with higher priority waitlists ahead of you.

Now that all of the attraction openings have been confirmed for the first week of June, I don't think there will be a whole lot of movement. People with confirmed reservations will do everything they can to hold onto them.

There are also very few studio rooms at VGC. We were wl'd for 1 night in January and didn't get it. I called several times to try and get something (was considering a 1-bdrm and even wl'd it for a while) to no avail.

I waitlisted for a studio for 3 nights for early June right at 6 months out. I meant to call at 7 months, but time got away from me. :confused3 I waited a few weeks and finally caved and grabbed 3 nights in late July - which shocked me when it was available. Not my ideal time to go to Disneyland, but I am dying to stay at VGC.

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer [what a phrase], but I really don't think your chances are very good. I believe, and I know I will be corrected quickly if I am wrong, there only a total of 50 2 bedroom villas available, meaning they can be broken up into 2 bedrooms, 1 bedroom and/or studios. That's an impossibly small amount of inventory. :cutie:

I do sincerely hope your waitlist comes through for you. :thumbsup2

Thank you all for your input...I think I may just use reservation points instead...

Just out of curiosity, did you recently try to get it or was it at 7 months? We'd like to go in June 2012, but are nervous about the availability of what we need then...a 2 BDR villa.

Actually its 48 2 bedroom units, of which 24 are dedicated, and 24 are split into studios/1. Bedrooms, plus 2 grand villas. So there's only 24 potential studios at any given time, less if any are booked as a 2 bedroom lock-off.
