Chance of getting refreshed SSR Grand Villa?

I’m looking to book a grand villa for a few days and am trying to decide where to book these points. SSR refreshed grand villas look gorgeous, but I’m worried we’ll get one of the old rooms. What do you think are the odds of getting a refreshed room?

When are you planning to go? Are you willing to pay the extra points for a preferred room if it greatly improved your odds?

We are going in January. Currently booked at BLT but wouldn’t mind saving 40 points. And yes we would pay preferred.

Each building at SSR has 2 GVs. There’s 18 buildings total, 7 preferred and 11 standard. They haven’t started any standard buildings. They have completed at least 4 preferred buildings and have torn up at least 2 more; at the rate they were working pre-closure I would be pretty darn confident that when you go in January that every preferred GV would either be renovated or torn up and thus unavailable to book. The standard ones at best will have 2 or 3 of their 11 buildings done by then, and possibly none.

That’s really helpful, thank you! If you had a choice between SSR and BLT with a forty point difference, where would you go? We will be doing a split stay with a two bedroom at BLT for the last three days.

Like you’ll already be at BLT for a few days and then also you’ll be at a GV somewhere? SSR is more convenient to 3 of the 4 parks (obviously BLT is wildly more convenient to MK) and I think would be a nice change of pace; I’m not super familiar with BLT though so I’m afraid I’m not the best compare and contrast person.

SSR GV’s only have one small balcony. This is one major flaw DVC did when they built SSR. BLT has 4 balconies. I personally don’t like the layout of the bathroom in the primary bedroom. It seems very cramped. We are going on the fall and have a OKW GV booked. Some plans have changed an now there is only 5 people going. We can get a 2 bedroom for about 60 points less.

I know. I bought a 100 point OKW contract to bank and borrow to get a GV for fall family trips. I think it’s 296 points for a 6 night stay in November.
