Delta Pilots Union Let Chairman Set Strike Date

ATLANTA Leaders of the pilots union at Delta Air Lines Inc. said Wednesday they gave their chairman the right to order a strike at the nation’s third-largest carrier at anytime after April 17.

Oh no! I'm supposed to fly Song on April 22nd! Should I shell out the money for flights on another airline now? What will happen with my Delta tickets if they strike?? HELP!

Me too we are flying may 4th and 11th. I have no Idea what I supposed to do now. I guesss I better call disney as we booked our tickets through them, I read no another thread something about needing paper tickets or a reciept to trying get on another airline, but all i have from disney is my intinerary packet which just gives the full amount i paided for the whole package, does this mean I should ask them for something listing exactly how much was airfare and that is it paid off? I hoping that since we book everything through them, If we don`t make it due the flights they`ll give just a credit for the hotel and tickets part of the package atl least, in the worsed case. :confused3 Well I gone call them and try and get some guidence.

We are leaving April 19th for the Atlantis and even getting the flight we got with delta was tough...everything else was sold out due to school breaks and easter travek. Dont know what we are supposed to do considering the hotel is already paid for?!?!

yeah i hear ya,we are going for 2 weeks.1 week at universal 1 week at Disney
and the entire trip is paid in full (passes, airfare, hotels for Universal & Disney, rental car, gift cards to restaurants)I am physically ill tonite over this,
i dont think being on standby is going to cut it as i am traveling with 3 kids by myself.I am seriously thinking of finding alternate transportation by this weekend just to be safe. :confused3

We too booked everything with Disney, when I called them I was told that they couldn't do anything until there was a strike. In that case, Disney would then call and try to reschedule your flight. I too am ill by this, we have spent over 1000.00 in airfare, and now we may lose it...that is a lot of money for us. I was really hoping that Disney could tell me more, but they kept it fairly vague.

Same boat here also. We leave April 20th. I have been holding off on park passes because I really dont know about the flight situation. I am afraid I will loose all my money from this trip, hotel etc. Being so close to the 17th I feel really strapped. I wasn't nervous about this until the other day. Let's keep our fingers crossed. :guilty:

Exactly. It's just more posturing. At the very least, it puts the actual strike out into late May.

Very late May works for me....just get me home from Tampa on the 21st!!

I hope Late May, I am so glad i haven't told my kids about the trip, And i'am not until we leave for the airport.

My experience watching this with Northwest's pilots (who also voted to approve a strike during a bankruptcy) suggests that the 30-day cooling off period does not apply to airlines under bankruptcy, because they are no longer goverened by the Railway Labor Act.

My experience watching this with United's pilots suggests that it does apply to airlines under bankruptcy.

We have flights May 8 & 13. I think!!! (not sure I've read so much stuff) the 30 day cool off period is issued by the government, if they want to. I'm so hoping they figure this out. I really don't think they will strike, but if they do the cooling off period would save a few of us.
Our flights are on DL connection carrier Freedom Airlines, so don't really know what this means. The flt. attendants for Comair have also set strike date 4/17. I will know on Monday what theverdict is. :wizard: :wizard: The pilots & attendents for the connection carriers (excluding Comair) are not DL, but if they strike will they cross picket lines. We're flying out of Dayton so not as bad as if out of Cincinnati.

This is for all of us with DL tkts. :tink: :tink: :tink: :tink: :tink: :tink:
Lets hope the pixie dust works for all of us!!! DL employees too!!!

This is starting to really confuse me, Because as you mentioned I figured that disney would rebook us, when I called them last night I was told by a CM that they are unsure of what would happen. So I called delta they said everything would have to go through disney as they are the travel agent. I called disney this morning, and they gave me the 1-800 for delta and said if the strike happens I would have to call that make arrangements. :confused3
We too have spend over a $1000, We have flights from bangor maine to cincinnati with comair doing business as delta connection then on to orlando with delta, and I read that the comair flight attendants may also go on strike soon, how this would effect us I do not know.
I keep reading to get switched to another airline you need proof of a comfirmed seat with delta. Except when you purcahse it as part of a package with disney they do not list seperatley that cost of the flights, they just give your the total package price on your receipt. So what do I use for proof?

Have you ever been in WalMart or Target and seen a two year old sitting on the floor crying and screaming because he didn't get candy?

This is the union equilivant of a two year old fit. If I can't make LOTS of money, I won't make any.....

Now how many times do the parents actually LEAVE the store without the kid. My theory is the pilots will sulk back with some of what they wanted, but not all....

Carol-I love your analogy! :thumbsup2 First smile I've had on this subject since I learned about the whole situation. (Have one of those 'tantrum-aged' little people, so that's an analogy I really get!!!)

We to purchased everything from Disney, I did ask them for my conf. number for Delta and they did give that to me. I don't know how much that would help in this matter, but like you we just have a total for everything. I wish that I could find out what will happen in the worst case, so far the only thing I know is that I have to deal with Disney for everything. I have heard conflicting reports on if the insurance will cover anything or if we just lose that money, we bought the insurance from Disney. I am also not sure on how the rebooking would work. It's too bad that Disney isn't sending something out to clarify all of this.

I did talk to the disney insurance people, they said if a strike happens we could claim as we paid off our package before a strike was forseeable. So if that happens we could claim the airfare and change the dates of our vacation for later in the year buying airfare for another airline. So if a strike happens we wouldn`t lose our money. But I think that if Delta shuts down completely we out of luck.
