Chair woes

Did anyone choose to just use the regular banquet chairs? I am having my reception at ADH. I believe they have black banquet chairs with a red seat. I picture beautiful silver chiavari chairs against my purple table cloths and centerpieces. The issue is that I am having almost 70 people - things are adding up big time. Can I justify spending almost $800 on chairs (be it the chiavari or chair covers)?

If you stayed with plain banquet chairs, did you regret it? Did anyone even really notice?

I have 2 weeks to go until my wedding and all the decision making is exhausting...

Have you looked into an outside company if you have your heart set on the silver chairs. I did not not use them, so I can't personally recommend, but a lot of the girls on the boards here have rented from 'A Chair Affair' (link below) and have said they were very pleased!! They will deliver/set-uo/strike at Disney locations and I think DFTW stand on it is that they allow you to bring in this outside vendor but will take no responsibility fro them, their service or their chairs. I think that this company charges much less than Disney does for the chiavari chairs!!

Sadly Chair Affair has signed with Disney so you are no longer able to use them
I believe with ADH that you must use Disney for the chairs since that is part of the rules with that location.
I've heard mixed reviews as far as people noticing the chairs, some people don't even remember the chairs or what they looked like and others remember exactly. So I think it comes down to a personal preference as to what YOU want.

Can you clarify this a bit for me? Do you mean you can't hire them as an outside vendor anymore because they're now Disney's supplier? Or do you mean they signed some kind of no-compete clause where they just won't deliver to DFTW events, even if outside vendors can be used in that location (unlike ADH, where I know you have to use Disney only)?

I'm confused, because when we thought we were doing a Wishes event, we looked into several outside vendors and musicians that Disney also uses, but if we hired them ourselves it was much cheaper.

kharmagirl - I don't know how you have your floor plan set up, but I too wanted chiavari chairs in ADH without breaking the bank. What I chose to do is just use them on the dance floor location only. So I have chiavari chairs at my headtable and the 2 giant rounds that my immediate family will be sitting at. So, at least I will get them in pictures! But the small rounds in the upper area around the bar locations and in the back by the windows are just going to have existing chairs, which I don't think many people will notice.

They are now a supplier for Disney. I emailed them a few months ago about our wedding next October and they told me they are now a Disney supplier and I would need to go through Disney for the chiavari chairs.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. That's interesting, and a bummer for future brides! Their prices were SO much more reasonable than Disney's.

Thanks for all the responses. I had read somewhere that the Chiavari chairs are with a new vendor and they are cheaper - somewhere around $9-10 each. I just sent an email asking for the exact price.

ADH does not allow outside vendors so you have to go through them for everything but photography and videography.

I have no problem with the ADH wood chairs and was happy with using them, but I was told that we could not have those on the dance floor. One of the girls on one of the links qtsugarangl posted said she was using them - so I just asked again. Let's see.

elleinad16 - thanks for the idea. At the very least I will use the silver chiavari chairs for the sweetheart table. I didn't even think of that. We have 50 people sitting at tables on the dance floor though so that's still a lot of chairs.

Actually, that price is better than what it used to be. IIRC, it was $12.50/chair PLUS a $250 (or $275?) delivery fee, no matter how many chairs you needed.

Interesting! I hope that price stays the same. My consultant told me prices didn't change even though they have the new vendor. I'll still use an outside vendor for those but for the people that can't use outside vendors that $9 per chair is much better!! Here's to hoping!

Hope that price stays the same for next November. I want silver chiavari chairs (with pink cushions) for our reception at AAP. I will pay whatever Disney says, but the cheaper the better.
