Howdy everyone,

I just read a post some where else that said someone else posted that DCL now charges for pop.:confused3

I was sure she must of meant like at the bars or when you ask a drink server to bring you a pop, but I figured I would go to the experts here just to make sure I had'nt missed something.

Has anyone heard about this??

Thanks,

They only charge the guests who call it "pop". If you call it soda or Coke, then it's still free.....:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

(sorry, I'm from Minnesota, I still call it "pop", too!:headache: )

That's a good one! I am in Texas- all carbonated beverages are called "Cokes". "Please bring me a coke. Sure, what kind? A Dr. Pepper please".
:cool1: :cool1:

We were on the 9/15 - 9/22 Magic (Eastern) ... "Sodas" were free at the deck 9 drink station and in the restaurants at that time ... not sure about the drink servers.

i believe that if you order soda/pop at a bar you are charged but if you get it from deck nine or in the dining room it's free.

You are also charged for sodas ordered through room service.

Thanks everyone,
I didnt think anything had changed or it would of been posted here first!!!

It's funny how in different parts of the country call pop by different names.

Thanks again,

Yep, I was excited to see the word "Pop" in the title of your thread!!! We are pop people here in Ohio/PA!!

My father grew up in Texas, and during the Depression era (maybe awhile longer after that) he'd refer to any soft drink as a 'sodie pop.':rotfl: Not 'soda pop, SO-DEE pop.:rotfl2:

As of October 6, soda was still free in the dining rooms and at the drink station.

wHY IS HTERE A DIFFERENCE FROM YOU ORDER IT?

Years ago it was only free in the dining rooms. Many people bought a mug that got you unlimited refills, or you could pay for it at the bars. That's standard for the cruising industry.

Disney added soda/pop/coke/the fizzy stuff that rots your teeth to their beverage station (which I think formerly had free iced tea and lemonade) - the beverage station is self serve (unless there is a rotovirus concern - they may staff it then) and so its really cheap for them to have "free" pop there. But they haven't gone so far as to make it free from the bars or room service - in those places its a revenue generator, and the cost of goods is higher as well (staffing and the can thing from room service). It is also still free in the dining rooms.

Most of us are grateful that we aren't buying a $15 mug anymore - even if we have to send our kids up to deck nine when they want a Coke.

I think at one point it was $5 per day so that mug would set you back $35 for the 7-day cruise. Ouch!

I believe we paid $48 on an 8-day cruise on Norweigan last year for a 'Coke card.' And it was supposed to save you money!

As I recall, "free" mugs were to be had for booking with AAA - which made booking with AAA an attractive proposition.

I was on a Norwegian cruise about 4 years ago and it was only about 15 or 20 dollars for the Pop card. It must've gone up. I kind of found it a pain though. It was like the staff was amd you had it.

We just went on a 7 night Norwegian cruise to Hawaii in August and it was $52.50 a person for the drink card! For the 4 of us it would have been $210 for the week just for soda (and they made sure you only got one at a time). We passed on that and went with water, lemonade, or milk.

Disney may be a little more expensive for the cruise but I think it evens out when you look at the "extras" you get. Only 9 more days for us till FREE Disney soda :cool1:
