:)Is there any truth that disney is going to centralized the fastpass kiosks at each of the parks?

I thought they did a trial run at AK, last year sometime, but I hadn't heard about it being implemented.

I read a bunch of different disney sites and have not heard anything about that. I dont Think it would work out. parks like animal kingdom are really big ant that would be a long way to walk to just get fast passes.

Well that's the point...that you DON'T have to walk to each attraction to get a FP.

Not sure if they will do it at all of the parks, but they DID test it out at AK last year...

Right, the point of a centralized system, especially at AK, is that you don't have to criss-cross the entire park to just to get FPs. FPs would still be available at the attractions as well.

However, they've only tested such a system and there has been no signs of it returning. Haven't even heard a peep of a rumor thus far. I know there were a number of technical glitches during the test.

I'm going to move this to our rumors board.

Isn't the poing of Fastpass that you get one for a popular attraction then go to a nearby less popular attration first and come back to popular one?

If it is centralized and you can only hold one at a time and in AK you go to Safari to use your first one, then you will have to walk back to Say the main gate where the FP distributionis to get a second?

Then people who are in the know will go strait to the centralized area get all the fast passes as soon as the previous window opens. Then at 2pm after getting all their desired FPs, they will start seeing the park. Of coures it's already is a pain to wait behind ten people at the kiosks, just wait until there are 1000 people standing around to get their second FP.

At the trial last year, they still had the regular FP machines AT the attractions, as well as at the centralized location. So if it makes more sense for you to get your FP at Everest, then you can still do that. For some people, you may not want to walk alllll the way to Everest. Instead you could just get your Everest FP, then go see Tough to Be a Bug and other attraction on the way, and by the time you get to Everest, you could use your FP.

They also delayed the opening of the centralized FP area until some time after rope drop - at least 15 minutes - so the crowds would disperse during the initial rush.

Hmmm, wonder what slob left his water bottle on the fast pass machine? :sad2:

It wasn't me!!

Could have been an honest mistake though. Like someone put it down to get their FPs then walked away forgetting that they left it there....

Could be. But what gets me, we spend a lot of time at WDW. Been going since 1988 in fact. It just seems that over the last couple of years, park neatness has really fallen off. They have a lot less CMs around. Used to be, that if you saw someone drop a candy wrapper on the ground, there was someone there almost instantly to pick it up. They seem to have cut back on a lot of these "clean up" folks. {trying to save the corp. $$$ I suppose}. Anyway, that's just my opinion, based on what we have seen over the last twenty-something-odd years.:confused3

The last two years I've been the parks looked great. In fact, it's one of the first things DH and I talk about when we try to bring people to the dark side (aka convince them to try Disney World).

There's been some ebb and flow it seems but overall I agree, it's slipped. But it's still better than most other places so I guess that's good enough for most...

As for the centralized FP test, the main benefit for us was being able to see all the return times at once and make a decision on which to get based on that. As long as they keep the machines at the attractions as well, the centralized area is a nice idea.

But of course it all depends on whether Disney got what it wanted out of the test.

I liked the idea of a cetralized FP location. Heck, I hope they would come up w/ some type of ticket upgrade that would allow at least one FP attraction per park per day or like the Dining plan so many credits per night per person. I mean this may not be good for those who maybe make multiple trips per year or every year. :confused3 But for those like me & our family who are planning to go every other year I'd plan to pay for an upgraded ticket. Just a thought.

I'm sure whoever did it was missing it a little while later. I know I definitely would have been.

The Central place for FP was at AK this New Year (2010). It was great. A very nice CM helped me plot out the show times I could get to with my 18 month old's nap schedule. She gave me FP's for Flights of Wonder, Lion King, and Tough to be a Bug that would all work. (Yes, all at once!) :cool1: It was great. When you are at the Diz Xmas-New Year, you need all the help you can get to see attractions. Wall to wall people.

That was a little different...they were giving Fastpasses for the shows that don't normally have Fastpasses to help alleviate line issues. However, some reports came in that they handled the Fastpasses at these attractions VERY poorly...several people had Fastpasses for Nemo, and showed up within the window and were told they were out of luck because they let all the standby people in already and it was full...

I really liked the centralized fastpasses at AK last year. We were able to get a fastpass to the safari while on our way to Everest. It was so nice not to have to make an extra trip. The only drawback was that the return times weren't posted, so you didn't know what time you were getting until after you got your pass.
