I know its the most expensive, but its covered, and I am trying to decide if its worth the extra money.
I can envision coming home to the car snowed in at an uncovered lot!
I picked Air Tran to save money out of Logan, but now I feel like I am just paying the higher parking.
I am kind of regretting choosing Logan now.
I did look at parking ahead of time, but I guess I am having the second guessing now, and its too late!

I never thought about the snow before on cars. Do the shuttle and fly places clean off the cars?? I bet they do, since they shuffle them around. I used them a lot when I was on business trips and found them to be very reliable, and had frequent shuttles for pick up. Never waited more than 5 minutes for a pick up.

I know that whenever we used 'off-site' parking..either at PreFlight or in the economy lot, our car was always exactly where we left it. I can't imagine that the snow would be cleared off each car. That is why we don't use those lots when there is any chance of snow.
During the winter months, we use central parking at Logan. Expensive? Yes. But, we consider it a cost of doing business. The other thing you might want to consider, if you are driving any kind of distance, is a park and fly hotel close to Logan. You could stay there the night before your flight and then leave your car there, and take their shuttle to the terminal. But, if it snows, you will have to clear off the car.

Our experience mirrors Diane (goofy4tink). We usually use PreFlight, but I will spring for the significantly more expensive central parking if snow is likely.

we used it last time we went and would do it again. it is worth the money if you drive, we were in our car and out of the airport in record time.

We have left our car in central parking, and thought it was worth. Your vehicle is not moved from the space you park it in. We have always had it in a covered garage, never a drop of snow in the vehicle.

No, they don't clear off the cars.

I have parked in these lots at Logan and they don't move your car either. How could they - you don't leave your keys (could you be thinking of valet parking?)

How is the walk from Logan's central parking to the terminals? Like to Terminal C?

It looks pretty long/inconvenient on the map.

We are using Pre Flight for the first time in April. How long of a shuttle ride is it to the airport, just planning ahead timewise.

I was talking about park and fly where you do leave your keys on Route 1A. There have been times that if you park at central parking you are expected to hand over the keys - especially around the holidays. They start parking cars out on the ramp.

Terminal B's parking is also covered, but small. Central parking is convenient for Terminal C. Check on Massports website for what lots are closed on the day you travel. Terminal C valet closes a lot.

Though I've never timed it I would say it's approximately 10 minutes.

10-15 minutes. Somewhat depends on which terminal you are flying out of, but that's a reasonable estimate. At Pre Flight they pick you up right at your car and we've never had to wait for the bus to come around. The driver will load your bags onto the bus. There might be another pick-up or two but you are usually off to the airport very quickly after you park.

We have used Central Parking a few times now. We have found it very convenient! The walk is less then 10 minutes?? It seems to be about 5 minutes to us.
When my husband first suggested it a few years ago I was hesitant because I thought it would be a pain in the neck to drag the luggage a long distance. Plus we have two kids (one with autism and needs to have his hand held at all times) and I was worried about their safety. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy, quick, and convenient it was! It was a short walk!

We did look into using a "car service" but it was much too expensive (about double the price). We have also had friends drive us in in the past as well, but when you take your own car then there are no worries to inconvenience anyone. And after I finished giving them a "Thank you" gift , I was out $100.00 already anyway!:rotfl:

For us it's just the most convenient.;)

Usually the walk to the terminals from central parking can be on the longish side...depending on where you find a spot. I have yet to get a close spot. I always seem to be walking forever.
With PreFlight, the ride on the shuttle van is about 8-10 mins or so. They are pretty good about getting to your car pretty quickly. But, I have yet to hand over our keys when using them....no way am I handing off my keys. If I'm valet parking, okay. Otherwise, nope, not happening.

which parking areas will move your car? do they want keys at economy lot?
So which parking areas are you expected to give your keys? I really don't want to leave my car key with someone either.

The reference is to Pre-Flight Parking, a private company that provides off-site parking. The company is not connected to the airport and does not have facilities at Logan. I think that the Boston Pre-Flight location is in Chelsea. You would leave you car keys with them for the duration of your trip. If interested go to www.preflightparking.com and click on the check mark next to Massachusetts on the map.

If you park at Logan economy parking, you just park it and leave with your keys as we've done on numerous occasions. Snow has never been a problem for us at economy parking though our annual Orlando trip is usually late February/early March. When there's been a snow bank in front of the car I've just driven right over it. Though sometimes I've tossed one of those telescoping snow shovels in the trunk I've never actually used it.
