If you walk in Central Park at the Scholar's Gate entrance (just off Central Park South) and walk the pathway toward the zoo. Walk past the restaurant (on your left) the ticket office (on your right) the zoo entrance (on your left). A bit past there, there is a place you can stand and see the sea lions.

If you enter via 65th Street (from 5th Ave, down the steps), it's in that general area. You really can't miss it.

If you come from the other end, you'll pass the Tisch Children's Zoo (petting zoo) on your left, past the Delacorte Clock (above you), and then walk a bit and the sea lions will be on your right.

Why not just go IN the zoo!?!?!? It only takes about an hour and a half to see everything (including the penguin and sea lion feedings). It's a GREAT little zoo!!! They have 3 gorgeous snow leopards; 2 adorable red pandas; 1 big polar bear; a bunch of cute little penguins; the Rain Forest, etc. .

I'm not sure how much tix are as I'm a member but whatever it is, it's totally worth it!

Right above your post, I posted detailed info on how to see the sea lions.

You can SEE them, but from pretty far away.

They are not outside of the zoo where you can walk right up to the enclosure.

You can see their water area from outside the zoo at the fence, but there may be people standing inside the zoo blocking your view, or they sea lions may be swimming or on the other side of the rocks. You can really only see them if they are outside of the water and on that side.

It's not THAT far! LOL! I'm there all the time. Usually, in the nice weather and before the zoo opens at 10am, they're laying about on the rocks. When the zoo IS open, people are milling about but you can still see them.

Of course, it's always nicer to be in the zoo and be "right there" to see them up close and personal. What's really great is, if it's almost feeding time (1130am) and you're on the north side of their enclosure, they pop right up on the side and hang out there and bark at you. They know the handlers are coming to feed and examine them so they pop up looking for the handlers. It's really cute!

Check and see if they have a "donation" day when you can visit for a dollar and see them up close. The zoo is owned by the same people that own the NYC Aquarium and the Bronx Zoo and both of them have donation days
