Hi all,

I've never not flown out of EWR, since it's larger than PHL and it's much closer to me. I got cheaper flights out of PHL for this trip so I'm deciding how to get there.

Here are my options:

a) Have my parents drop steve and I off at the airport and pick us up (I feel bad though, since we live 90ish minutes away)

b) Drive and park at the airport.

c) Pay for a van-type service.

We live in Middlesex County, NJ and like I said before we're about 90 minutes away, depending on traffic.

What would you suggest? Thanks!

We live in Central NJ. If we fly out of Philadelphia, we book the Park & Fly rate at the Hampton Inn. Park & Fly rate is $165.00 for a check in of Dec 1.
They shuttle you to the airport.

We live much closer to PHL and we park and fly there frequently.

I suggest you check out this thread for recommendations on where to park at PHL. Where to park at Philly airport

I have never left out of EWR myself. But in speaking to friends who have, we apparently have many more decent off site parking choices than you do at Newark. I have heard parking is also cheaper outside of PHL.

One thing I have heard over and over: DO NOT park at PHL Economy parking. It's the pits. Everyone suggests you park off site.

Good luck!

Thank you both for the replies! I looked into economy parking and it sounds good since it's the cheapest but from reading that thread and thinking about it, it seems like a huge hassle. I like the park and fly option as it'll give us some extra time to sleep in and not have to worry about getting down to the airport on time.

Thank you again!

You may want to check this thread for alternatives to PHL parking.

I live about 90 minutes from PHL. Since I typically book the first flight out, I book a room at the Sheraton Suites. Last time we were 6 days in WDW and then a 7 day cruise. The $170 I paid for my room at the Sheraton included up to 14 days of parking. Couldn't beat that! :cool1:

If you are trying to save money why not have your folks drive you to one of the commuter trains and take that into Philly and then take the airport train straight to the aiport. It is very easy, economical and has very convenienant and frequent times- like every 20 minutes. I've ridden this train several times with kids and luggage and it is very easy to do. If you are near Trenton that would be a very easy place to start from.

Book a room at the Ramada near the airport. You can get a room for the night before for around $70 and park there for free then.

I'm a big fan of Pacifico Valet. We have three young kids, and it's very convenient to unload the kids and luggage just once, as opposed to the lots which shuttle you to the airport.

Do I have to book something different for this park and fly option? Or is it included automatically if I book on expedia, etc?

pacifica valet. I assume that comes to your house right? I'm in the Princeton area so I wonder what the price would be from here.

Thanks!!

They don't come to your house.YOu go to them and they take you to the airport in your car and then come pick you up in your car.

I don't live in PA any longer but I always used PACIFICO when I traveled which was frequently for work back then. No matter what time of the day I was departing or arriving they were always prompt and courteous!

Ohhh okay, that sounds pretty neat. I like the "door to door." I'm going to google that and weigh all my options after getting prices.

I don't think I've read that other thread, but I wanted to say I always park in economy parking and haven't ever had any hassle other than having to drive a bit to find a spot (like for 2-3 extra minutes maybe). The shuttles have always run quickly IME even when returning home in the middle of the night.

We use airportparkingreservations.com to book with Winner Valet Parking. There's a $5 service fee for the booking and the recent rate at Winner was $8.49/day. (You can get the service fee waived w/ a referral, though. PM me to see if I can help.) We pay the extra $9.99 for the "express" pick up. (Rates through apr.com seem to be lower than if you just drove up to the lot without pre-booking.)

The "express" part means that you don't have to drive the attendant back to the lot. You just leave directly from the airport.

For our last flight, he drove our car right up to Southwest's curbside check-in, unloaded all our bags and the SWA agent grabbed them right from the curb for us.

I don't have a good sense of how much to tip these guys, but I've been giving them $10 on drop off and pick up.
