Hi! My mom and I are working on creating a centerpiece idea. We're still in the process, so I don't want to post since it doesn't look 'great' yet. We were wondering if anyone has ever seen mickey head floating candles?? Maybe at that candle shop in DTD? Is there a candle shop? I know I saw a store with a bunch of candles :rotfl: I need to go to bed! :rotfl: Anyway, let me know if you know of anywhere that you've seen them. Thanks!!

I really am all about candles and sparkly stuff, but our wedding is at noon in the middle of the summer and I don't think I'm going to get as great of an effect as I imagined, but oh well! ;) We're trying to save money by not doing huge floral things, so this will have to work :)

hmm i never saw a candle shop...but there is a home type of shop which had a ton of candles. hope that helps....and can't wait to see what you come up with ;)

I can try to post what she did tonight which is a VERY rough draft, but it's not great yet!

That's what I must have been thinking of, the home store!!

I have not seen them, but maybe you could make them. Perhaps you could find a mickey candy mold and use that... ebay maybe? Candle making is pretty easy and not very expensive.

OOh, that's a good idea! I love new projects :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

OK, here is a very rough draft (so rough that the tag is still on the pedestal bowl, the flowers are fake, and the floaty candles are actually non-'floaty' tealights :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )

We bought the pedestal bowl at Wal-Mart (it's kind of iridescent, but you can't really tell in the picture) and then would put floaty candles and real floating flowers in the water (maybe stones at the bottom, maybe clear crystals?) Then we put the votives down lower around it on the table. We thought about putting the pedestal on a mirror? Not sure yet. Then we thought maybe some pixie dust sprinkled around on the table? I don't know- help us!!! :) :)

That is very pretty. I went to a wedding that had floating candles in a bowl with daisey's. It was placed on top of a mirror.

You could also color the water and spread rose petals around the table.

I like the rose petals on the table idea!! Maybe just have the candles in the water and do the petals on the table? We're still in the figuring out stages of this ;) Trying to save money!! :rotfl:

I have mickey head floating candles that I purchased at the home store...but it was a couple of years ago. I am not sure if they still have them. I am not going back til Dec 9 but would be happy to have a look for you...although I am certain someone else here is going sooner than that.

Yeah! At least I know they did exist at one time. We'll be there in Jan or Feb for our planning session, so you'll be there sooner than us. If you happen to be in that store and you can check that would be AWESOME!!! Don't go out of your way to do it, though :) :) Thanks!!!!

those look great...i almost ordered floating mickey head candles online let me see if i can find the website. Cause the disney store ha not had them in a long time.

i did a searchf or them

I did a search on ebay. They do have the mickey mouse candy/soap/candle molds. I think it was $9.95/6 molds.

I like your centerpiece idea! I've seen floating candle arrangements with real vines curled up in the bowl under the water...it added a bit of color, and shape to the water. :) And I don't think you need to have a mirror on the table. I think that a colorful napkin overlay, or table runner that matches your color scheme would look nice under the bowl. I can't wait to see your final draft of you centerpiece! :thumbsup2

Could you use Mickey Head ice cube molds? And maybe some small floating gold(or what ever glitter color) glitter star candles.

Kae

That would be cute! I like the star thing mixed in too. My mom had the same idea. I saw the candy molds on Ebay, but it seems like they would be too flat and would burn out too quickly. I don't think I want a mirror either. We were just trying to think of ways to add reflectivity, because I like the whole sparkly thing, but it's not going to be dark and will probably be very sunny with lots of big open windows so I thought it would be cool to get things that will catch the light.

SRUAlumn- I love your centerpiece idea! It's so pretty! My mom and I are making centerpieces also, even though we haven't started yet. I may be borrowing some of your ideas ;)

Go for it! We've just been playing around with different things. We found the bowls at Wal-Mart with the holiday stuff, so we have to get them now before they're gone. However, her store only had 1, and mine doesn't have them put out yet. So I have to go check every day!

We're not big flowery people! I don't want it to look funeraly. I think this will work once we iron out the wrinkles :)

Thanks!!

PS I'll just send you all the stuff and you can use it on June 25, and then have DFTW store it and I can use it when I get there 2 weeks later! :rotfl:

So here's another idea we're kicking around after our 40 minute phone call :rotfl: My mom went to a wedding recently where they had a 2 layer cake for each table and had it up on a crystal cake stand and that was the centerpiece. What do you think of that? Maybe a 2 layer one per table, elevated, and then votives and flower petals on the table below?

I don't know if Disney would let us do this, though, because all their cakes are so big. We would end up needing like 6 cakes and I think it might get pretty pricey! Although, our big cake was going to be about $600-$700ish, so if each smaller cake was around $100 we'd still be in good shape.

Then we started to get creative and thought it would be cool to theme the tables. Maybe the 'Cinderella' table with a white and blue cake, a 'Beauty and the Beast' table with a french looking cake, etc... However, I'm a very matchy matchy person so I don't know if I could handle that.

Help! I need opinions! :) :) :)
