last week a census worker came to the door, I wasn't home, hubby was getting ready for work and was not dressed and did not answer, he knew it was census because he looked out the window from upstairs and saw the badge the guy had on.

so anyway, the census worker went to our neighbor across the street, hubby happened to look out again when he came downstairs and it appeared the worker was pointing to our house.
SO I just assumed he was asking the neighbor about us.
the census worker did not leave any note in our door, and prior to that I have no idea if he was here or not, never any note.

so today, someone pulls in my driveway and knocks on the door, i was in my bathing suit, so I was not answering plus I don't answer for strangers anyway.
I looked out and she had no ID of any kind showing, nothing showing to id her as census, just holding a clipboard.
so I figured it was someone selling something or doing a survey, so I didn't answer.
my dogs barked like crazy and it was obvious we were home.
anyway she left a census note in the door, with her name and number
at the bottom it said
Quality control

I did send in my form back in March. I assume the other worker who was here got info from my neighbor.

I am kind of annoyed, I might call, but I am not doing the interview. I feel like I already sent it in, I did my part.

I'm sure they'll be a lot of opinions but for me this whole census workers situation is a bone of contention to me..if that happened here (and I too have sent in the form) I'm not doing another thing to provide anymore info.

well that is how I feel.
I may call and tell them not to come back because they will not get anymore info from me, I already did it.
the note says she will come back in a day or two.
it just irks me.
where is my form? is it lost? why are they knocking on my door?
and most of all why isn't she wearing something to identify herself as a census worker?

I just had a census worker ring my doorbell, she was asking questions about the house next door and how long it's been empty. I said I thought I remember the guy moving out sometime in March but I wasn't 100% sure.....

Maybe they want additinal info? We were sent a short form then a few weeks later (after we sent the short one in) we were sent a letter stating we would get the longer one also. I did it and sent it in.

2 Days ago- i had the note on the door- I sent the form in so I ignored note-yesterday I get home another note- and all my neighbors have a form stuck to the door also--

I live in a resort area and lots of people are weekend people- so i call the number leave a message saying I filled out my form and on behalf of my neighbors thanks for letting crooks know that they are not there everyday- as some of these forms will dry up and blow away before these neighbors are back again-- this is how we spend our tax dollars

A census worker came to my home recently to ask about a neighbor. The neighbor has moved out of state. She told me she had asked other neighbors and they didn't know where the neighbor was. I answered her question and she wrote down my info. She was very nice.

OP, perhaps, she wanted to ask about someone else in the neighborhood and your neighbor suggested you. :confused3

Right now the census teams are following up on many addresses. This is to validate to original informantion. This process must be done as there is so much on the line, $$$ and congress and senate seats. After the numbers are finalized, and some areas see their population numbers decrease, there will be many states, cities, counties, etc that challenge the numbers in court.
It is so important to everyone that the census information be as accurate as possible. Remember, those knockig at your door are notmaking the rules, they are only doing what they were told to do.

Personally, JUST My Opinion BUT I agree with most of what is stated by other posters after that this could for me get into a political discussion Sooo that being said, I sent in the form, I will do nothing further if they come to my door they will be sent away and I will never answer questions about anyone else in this neighborhood. FWIW I know the reason for the census, that's not the issue

With the last census we had someone come to our door. We answered the questions, which were things like, where are you employed, how much do you make, etc, ect.

The second time they came to our door we answered all the quesitons (see above).

The third time she came to our door we said all the information is the same but she insited she had to ask the questions. "are you still employed at xyz", do you still make $XXX blah, blah, blah).

The fourth (maybe 5th) time she came to our door we told her we were no longer answering her questions as this was rediculous. She got very irate with us.

If someone shows up at my door this time I will not answer a single question and I have informed my friends about our incident and warned them. We have already had one worker show up at the elementary school trying to get information on a house that moved and she was quite upset when the school officials told her that was private information and they wouldn't give it out.

THIS I do not understand. They asked you where you worked and how much you made????:confused3:mad: Why???

I filled out my form and sent it in. A few weeks later I had a visit. I do not go to the door for strangers either. I'd better be expecting you or you'll never see me.
That visit left a paper and I returned the call. She was nice. I had to answer VERY few questions but nothing personal like where we work or how much money we make.

What is up with that????

When I was still employed I had a regular customer who was a census worker. I knew that if I didn't do it I would get "the knock". So she brought a form into work and did it for me in the cafe. Now 2 months later I get "the knock." I told the guy, through the door, that I had already done it. he said that they didn't have it. I figured there might be many reasons why it didn't reach it's destination, since I didn't personally mail it, so I had him slide a form through the mail slot and I did it again. I slid it back through. So now I've done it twice, if I get another visit I definitely will think that's an issue.
