Cell Phones on board

We have the Nextel cell phones. Will they work on board the ship while at sea?

From what I'm hearing, NO they won't. Better off buying the walkie-talkies with the sub-stations. They may cost a little more, but with the sub-stations, I think it will cut out all the other people using regular ones. I think I have the Cobra ones and I got them at BJ's for $40 with a $10 rebate. So, for $30, it wasn't bad. I think once you leave the port, no phones will work. Good luck.

We have Nextels also, and they didn't work while at sea. They did work while we were still in Port before we embarked. I was able to stand on the verandah and talk to my Mom back in GA, and even later that night, I was able to call my Dad with the actual phone, but after that we didn't have any signal again until we got back to Port Canaveral.

Nextel phones will not work. You will have service in Port Canaveral and for a couple of hours but until you get back to Florida, you will not have service.
