DF and I are getting married in under 2 months now, and we now need our own cell phone plan. Both sets of parents are with verizon, and we're thinking of sticking with them, but I wanted to hear from others who have other carriers.

For those with verizon, do you have droid? Do you like it? I know I want a smart phone and the droid is pretty much what is out there, but there are many styles, ect.

Any help is much appreciated! :goodvibes

Verizon has the iPhone as well as Droid, just so you know. :) We have Verizon, I've been with them probably 10 years, the coverage here is the best with Verizon, with other carriers we have a lot of dropped calls.
I just upgraded from the LGenV3 to a Droid 2 weeks ago.....I LOVE the Droid!!!!! I've been able to find every app I want on the Droid Market, it does all that the iPhone does (according to my research and I research a LOT because I really wanted the iPhone lol), has an amazing camera!! I take better pics with my phone then with my camera. :) It's easy to use, I have no problems with the touch screen, and normally I do (we have 2 iTouches in the house) and I love the bigger screen. The only thing I haven't done yet is add video, I just haven't gotten that far yet. Yesterday DBF and I were talking about my phone and he asked if anything was missing between that and the iPhone, I said "yes, that program that ID's songs for you on the radio" and so he searched my phone and we found one!! Well, we found quite a few but we found one that I added and now I can ID songs with my Droid. LOVE it!!! :)

I too have a Droid. I have the Incredible they have since came out with 2 newer models I believe. The X and one recently seen on tv I want to say Thunder Bolt. The x has a bigger screen and have heard a longer battery life along with some newer features. Otherwise I love the phone basically got it for web use and receiving emails for my business. Ton of free apps, downloaded wait time app for all 4 parks, now i sit home and go what that long of a wait:lmao:
I would def. recommend the droid just do some research on which model would work for you.

Verizon is great as far as coverage, can't go wrong with the network (in most places), however you might ask around locally what service gets the best reception.

I have a Droid X, it is great. Verizon now offers the iPhone, so in my opinion you really cannot go wrong with Verizon.

Definitely check service in your area. Keep in mind that Verizon to Verizon calls do not come off your minutes, so if your folks use Verizon already, and you talk to them a lot, it might be worth it.

So glad to find this thread as I just ordered an Android Inspire today!

We have AT&T and have never had any problems with service, except down at the family farm, which is in no man's land, and in the mountains of West Virginia on a driving trip to Florida.

We've been with AT&T for almost 9 years and I have no complaints with them. Today I received an email from another carrier offering to buy out my contract if I switched to their service. So I did some online research, decided I wanted the Inspire. For me to upgrade today, the phone price online was $499.99. So I called AT&T cust. service and they offered me the phone for $49.99 plus $25/month data plan!!:banana: It's scheduled to be delivered on Friday. Don't know how I'll wait that long!

Another happy person with verizon and a DROID...love it..I have a Motorola Droid. Have lots of apps.just love the droid and verizon customer service is great.

If Sprint has good coverage in your area, look into Virgin Mobile. VM operates on Sprint's networks. You can get an Android phone. The VM plan is unlimited texting and unlimited internet for $25 a month. SO MUCH cheaper than Verizon's plans.

I agree-check to see which phones have the best coverage in your area. In our area AT&T has horrible coverage. In my old office, many people couldn't use their phones in and around our office and considering that our phones were our lifelines, not a good thing. Most ended up switching to Verizon.

I LOVE my Droid--by far the best phone EVER. I am actually able to upgrade now and have no desire to do so.

OP here. I live in AZ, and so far we've had the best service here with verizon, so I think we will stick with them. I feel better going into this now. As for the phones, I think I will end up with a droid (maybe the X?) and DF definitely wants an iphone.

Thanks for the help. :)

I love my X. I wasn't too sure about the touch screen until I sent one text-it is SOOOO much easier then a regular keyboard (even a full size qwerty keyboard). You tap vs push and the buttons on the virtual keyboard are large, almost as big as they are on my laptop :thumbsup2.

I like the larger screen size for surfing the net too.

How I wish DH would read this thread! He's stuck in Sprintville and won't think of another carrier. I wanted to switch to Verizon, but he is loyal to Sprint. I may look into that Virgin Moble and see if it's available in our area. Thanks for the thread.

I swear by my I-Phone now. It is terrific. You have access to the internet right there at your fingers, GPS system, alarms, weather, I-pod, Email, everything right on the phone right out of the box, plus there is a huge amount of aps you can get extra. My bill is only like $80 a month. Oh and it also has a phone. :)

Good to hear! I really liked it when I tested them out at the verizon store. It all felt really do-able. I'm not the most tech savvy person, but I think this will work for the stuff I want to be able to do with it. :thumbsup2

DF was pushing for AT&T because of the IPhone, but I kept telling him if we went to the mountains, you wouldnt get good service. We get decent coverage in the middle of nowhere with them. But now the AT&T thing isn't a problem because of the new verizon Iphone! :cool1:

HA! You must be on Verizon :) I have ATT for iphone service and I can't wait until the contract expires. I Had an original iphone and loved it. No issues. I got the iphone 4 last summer and the reception is awful. Rarely able to get a text message out. No bars most places. I LOVE everything about the iphone, except ATT as a carrier. The kid's Virgin Mobile android phones do pretty much the same things and I pay so much less for them.
