She was just on Oprah a about a month ago. Said she had miscarriage but were still trying. Happy for them.

Her son does not have his long hair anymore either.

It wouldn't be surprising to me if these were from an egg donation implanted into her own uterus. A lot of big stars do this, especially when they are gettin older. Anyway, it's none of our business who she got them. I'm thrilled for her. I know she has been trying for years and years to get pregnant. :lovestruc And for the record, i don't think 42 is too old to have a baby. Every girl in my family has had a baby at 40+. My MIL had two babies after 40!

I'm pretty sure based on interviews that when her husband had cancer, they took his semen so they could try for children in the future.

Then several times she's talked about having embryos stored (how she had her son) somewhere and that she is trying to have another child with them. She told Oprah she had one more shot I think when she discussed the miscariage.

I think the embryos were made with her eggs.

Anyway, I'm so very very happy for her and wish her nothing but the best. :cloud9:

Yes, she said she froze embryos which were in the same batch as her son. So these would literally be siblings from the same time, just born years apart.

I'm happy for them. Celine comes from a HUGE brood of brothers & sisters, cousins, now nephews & nieces, that she's close to. So, whatever happens to her & her DH, if they aren't around for the long term, these children will be part of a LARGE extended family.

Plus, about 15 years ago, statistics showed that the quickest growing population in America was centenarians: people who live to the age of 100 years or more!!! That was 15 years ago when that study was done. :woohoo:

With medical research evolving every day, :yay: in 40 years, people living to be 100 could live far beyond that, and be strong & healthy. Celine, now 42, could well live to see her children not only happily out of college and married, but having their own kids.

I heard on the news this evening that they're her own eggs and her husband's sperm, and the babies were conceived through in vitro fertilization.

It's not her age that concerns me, it's that her husband is 68. I had a older father and he died when I was only 9 years old. It has affected me all my life that I grew up without a father.

I'm not a big fan, but I've followed her story and am happy for her.

She wrote "A New Day Has Come" to commemorate the birth of her son. It always made me cry, knowing the struggles she endured trying to have a child.

A new day has...come

I was waiting for so long
For a miracle to come
Everyone told me to be strong
Hold on and don't shed a tear

Through the darkness and good times
I knew I'd make it through
And the world thought I had it all
But I was waiting for you

Hush, love

I see a light in the sky
Oh, it's almost blinding me
I can't believe
I've been touched by an angel with love
Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new, new sun
A new day has...come

Where it was dark now there's light
Where there was pain now there's joy
Where there was weakness, I found my strength
All in the eyes of a boy

Hush, love

I see a light in the sky
Oh, it's almost blinding me
I can't believe
I've been touched by an angel with love
Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new, new sun
A new day has...come

A new day has...come
Ohhh, a light... OOh

They've been trying to have another child for a LONG time now - I hope this pregnancy is successful for them.

As for her age, I am the same age she is (with 14,16 year olds) and couldn't imagine being pregnant now :scared1: but really, I was much more concerned when the Travolta pregnancy was announced, with the mom at 47. Both families have the resources to do everything they can scientifically to have good outcomes.

Not so concerned with the father's age - they have so much to offer their child - both emotionally and financially.

I am most definitely happy for Rene and Celine. I admire that they've been so open and honest about everything. That's not something you see a lot of celebs do.

Now about these opening night tickets I have for Las Vegas....

Seriously though, good for them! I wish them nothing but the best...and I'll be there whenever opening night is in Las Vegas! :thumbsup2

She is 42.

I am happy for her, at least she is honest about how hard it was for her to get pregnant unlike some other celebrities.

That's not old at all. Good for her. I'm glad she's getting more children at a relatively young age, vs having to go through what so many do in their late forties.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure it has affected & changed you. But, by your reasoning, no one should have children, because the fact is, time and a long life isn't guaranteed to anyone. Teens are getting killed in drunk driving accidents. So are the people crossing the streets while they drive into them. By your reasoning, people in the military, high risk jobs, like law enforcement or race car driving shouldn't have children.

Since there very much is a likelihood Rene won't be around for the long term, and they know that possibility, I would think it would be more important to make sure their children grow up to be emotionally resilient and prepared for that eventuality.

42 really isn't too old to be a mother, especially with today's technology. And besides, it's not like Celine is going to need to work all day long either.

My mom was 44 & my dad was 45 when my baby sister was born in 1970. My mom always said that she kept them young. My mom lived to see Monica get married & have her first daughter. (mom passed away in 2001) My dad is still going strong, just had his 85th birthday last week. My dad still does tons of stuff with the kids, he may not run around & play baseball with them (like he did with us), but he is always there for them.

I'm very happy for her.

I'm really sorry your dad died when you were so young.

But what's the alternative here? Should your parents NOT have had you? Should they not have more children even if it's their dearest desire?

My dad was only 27 when I was born (and I felt THAT was old, LOL), but he was a huge jerk and only every so often is 100% nice, and I'm the ONLY one that he shows that side to. His jerkiness affected my life...but I'm still glad my mom made the decision to have me and my brother... I know that's nothing to losing a dad, but everyone's affected in some way by everything, and very few of us wish to not exist at all...

Good for her!

I know they've really, really wanted more children for quite some time, and I'm glad their dream came true.

And 42 is plenty young - my sister just had her 3rd last year, 3 months before she turned 45.
