In late August, I ate at Akershus and Teppon Edo.

We ate at Akershus for breakfast, and I felt Akershus had a LOT of options for gluten-free food. There was a good selection of meat and cheese (plus herring - eh) and lots of fruit, cottage cheese, etc. The scrambled eggs and bacon were really good. They had an amazing potato casserole dish, which unfortunately had wheat flour used as a binding agent, but I had a taste of it and it was AWESOME.

Teppon Edo was also very good. I had the steak/chicken combo and they made my food first on the grill to avoid contamination. They used La Choy soy sauce for the seasoning since it doesn't contain wheat, and my meal was lotsa veggies and the meat since the noodles were excluded. I was sort of surprised they didn't have rice noodles as an option, but the white rice was good, and you could get another bowl if you liked. The other guests got a few dipping sauces for their meat, but I didn't since all the sauces had gluten in them.

thanks for the info! we're doing Akreshus for lunch but it appears they will have plenty for my Celiac DH.

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Disney is good in dealing with people with food allergies. If you are eating at a buffet or table service place you can ask the chef to come and show you what is safe for you to have.

If you are eating at a counter service place you can request a gluten free bun for your sandwich.

Enjoy! Slightly Goofy

Hi,

My daughter is on a gluten free diet and we were there is Sept. We were overall very pleased with how the restaurants handled it. It seemed like gluten free rolls, cookies and brownies and pasta are at the sit down places and food court. My daughter was able to get a gluten free pizza at the pepper market at CSR. We found that the restaurants would for the most part change a dish we were interested in to make it gluten free. You will enjoy how the chefs take it seriously and are very helpful. Make sure it is on your dining reservations and call the special needs diet line 2 weeks before your trip to verify everything.
I think the most meal we were impressed with was the luau, when we showed up and were seated they had a gluten free meal already for my daughter, I didn't have to do anything. I never spoke to one person there about it. Central reservations was very good.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

We took DDIL there for Christmas. It was her first trip. She has celiac and was very apprehensive about the food. WDW was wonderful. We filled out the paperwork but even at the places we didn't list, they were very careful with her food. We went to 50s Prime Time and they made her gluten free fried chicken. She said it was so good she wanted the recipe! She didn't have a problem with any of the restaurants.
