I'm new to Celiac and don't want to spend my time at Disney being sick.
Anyone else out there have Celiac and maybe have any advice for eatting at Disney?
We have not set any ressies yet. :goodvibes

Thanks so much!

You need to contact Special Diets at Disney world, the information is on the disney website. They will send you an email with lists of CS places as well as some of the items that they carry that are gluten free. Most of the table service restaurants the chef will come out and talk to you about what they can cand can't do. When making your reservations, you will need to note celiac on them. We took my niece who has celiac last summer and she loved almost every meal she had. You might also look on the disabilities forum on the DIS, I found alot of information there when I was planning. Good Luck and enjoy your trip.

My father has the same thing. You should tell them when making ADRs. However even if you just show up or forgot to tell them tell your waiter and most likely the chef will come out. Even if achef does not come out theyb will tell what you can and can not eat.

Remeber even if the food itself is Gluten free it also has to be prepared in a way to prevent it from becoming contaminated with a gluten product. for example french fries should be fine, but if they are prepared in a fryilator that also cooked breaded fish then the fries will then contain Gluten from the remnants of the breaded fish.

When we went to the quick sercvice restaurant in Germany my father asked them and at the Time the Brats had no fillers so they were Gluten free. and since he was ordering his with no bun they gave him two brats (I think a brat is worth way more than a roll but that is another discussion)

Some soy sauce has wheat and some does not so even at China they were able to amke him a good meal.

Just makle sure you tell every restaurant and they will take good care of you

On a side note you should try cooking for my family, dad Celiac, mom Vegitarian, sister gave up Beef, me I kove it all. (although looking back my father went years being sick and not diagnosed, fianally collapsed dehydrated and 120lbs and made it to a doctor who figured it out. I am now seeing alot of the same symptoms in a very minor way) Celiac is thought to be one of the biggest herditary diseases of people with a British backround.

Thank you so much for the info!!
I went to the disabilites board and found a lot of information.

Thank you so much again!!

I have a friend who has to eat gluten free and she has had no trouble eating in the world. Make sure you note that on your ADR when making it, and to the server prior to ordering.
She loves the food at Chefs de France. I know she has also eaten at San Angel Inn with no issues. (But surprisingly enough she could eat the chips, but not the salsa. So always ask!)
She also is happy with American Adv pavilion as they have gluten free burger buns as an option.
Even the Garden View Tea (Afternoon Tea) at the GF accommodated her diet. :thumbsup2
At Biergarten the chef has walked her through the buffet. Her dessert was a pre-packaged dessert, but she seemed very happy with it. (Gets tired of fruit all the time as an option.)

Be sure to look on the disAbilities thread off the main page. There are lots of threads for GF eating and links to get dining reviews.

:wizard: When we were at the Tusker House breakfast a few weeks ago, I noticed the family next to us was not getting up to charge the buffet. Then a chef came out an introduced himself and said, "So, we have a gluten allergy." Then, he gave them a tour of the buffet to point out what they could eat that was gluten-free. I thought that was neat they do that. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I would note on ALL ADRs that you have a gluten allergy. Also, I read on another thread they have gluten-free breads/buns at all counter-service. You just have to ask. :thumbsup2 It IS possible to eat gluten-free at WDW. :wizard:

DD is gluten free and Disney is the only vacation I have not had to cook on.:thumbsup2Which also is the reason it is our destination of choice.
Have them note it on all ADR's. Contact special diets and get gluten free list for the parks. Becasue ingredients can change at counter service always ask for the manager. They will bring out the ingredient books and go over safe items. At TS the chef will come to the table to go over choices and walk you throught the buffet. Very often they will bring the food from the back even with buffet if they are concerned with cross contamination at the buffet.

Crystal Palace is one of the few that is not offer much choice at least at breakfast. :confused3They are one of the few character breakfast that tried to give frozen gluten free waffles. Ohana, Cape May have always made fresh Mickey waffles for DD. :cloud9:

DDIL has celiac and didn't have any problems when we were there. The TS restaurants we ate at were: Biergarten (the chef came out and took her through the buffet pointing out what she could eat and told her what they were willing to specially cook for her), Rainforest Cafe (chef came and asked her what she wanted) and 50's Prime Time (the chef came out, she asked for gluten free fried chicken and that is what she received). She had gluten free at the cs restaurants without a problem.
