celiac disease

Can you get gluten free waffles at all the places that serve breakfast or only certain ones? We are staying at Pop. Kayla only eats waffles for breakfast -- won't eat eggs or breakfast meats, etc. Otherwise she is going to be living on gluten free brownies, LOL.

I think you can get GF waffles at all of the hotels. Just ask to talk to the chef on your first day. I know my mom has gotten GF waffles at CBR a few times - it takes a few extra minutes but she said it's totally worth the wait! :thumbsup2

hi ecki,

i recently emailed brenda about the waffles at POP! and the chef from POP! emailed me back. he said that can make gluten and dairy free waffles that are suitable for my boy (he is autistic too and strict gf/cf as well as sweetner and MSG free - it has made a huge difference to him).

Dd is autistic and allergic to gluten and dairy. When I made our reservations they noted this. I also called 48 hours before we ate somewhere to make sure. The chef came out at 4 places and made her dishes that weren't on the menu by what she liked. She was so excited she got to get something different and that she loved.

What about cross-contamination? Do they use a seperate waffle maker? We were at CBR in Feb. and we could watch them make the waffles. Do they keep one aside for GF cooking?

They are supposed to use separate waffle maker and know about cross contamination. I did not get sick at the Disneyland Hotel when I had their waffles. Go for it and hope for the best. Remember there are the Van's waffles that are premade and then there are the special hand made ones. Check to see which you are getting. Van's have soy flour in them.

WDW is AMAZING with special diets!

Our DD(9) as Celiac's and she went to WDW with her aunties a few months after she was dx'd/ I was freaked because her aunties aren't with her often(they live in different states) so they aren't used to the celiac lifestyle. Well WDW was AMAZING!!!! Never did she get sick and every place she eat like the Princess she is!

Then last November we went as a family and stayed at SSR and the Artist pallet was great! Every place we eat the chef or the MGR came to talk to us and either gave her options or asked her what she was in the mood for and brought her more food then she could possibly eat! She even got bday treats since we where celebrating her bday !

the only place I was disappointed in was Chef De France in Epcot. The chef never came out to talk to us and her food was just a burger on a Tapioca roll. Which made me sad because she really wanted to try french food! I guess I was expecting grand service from them since they are one of the pricier places to eat and I figured it a counter service place could be wonderful they surely would be eve better but no...Oh well. She was fine I think it was me and DH who where sad about it!

Oh and we also did the Mickey's VEry Merry Christmas Party and they made sure she had GF treats! Since we got sugar cookies she got GF cookies!

It was just so easy being at WDW with her!
