Celebrities at WDW

Jim Cummings is also the narrator for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and "Bullet #2" in Who Framed Roger Rabbit ...

We saw Michael Jackson at the World of Disney store last July. My husband said hello to him when he passed by, before he was totally mobbed by shoppers and escorted out.

I remember seeing a noted actor walking to Splash Mountain a few years back.

His name? Ron Jeremy...Not the most family-friendly actor in the world, but he was at Magic Kingdom. My brother and I wanted to talk to him, but we begged off and just looked at him. He looked back, got a smile on his face and gestured to the beautiful woman next to him.

It would have been awkward, considering that I was 18 and my brother was 16 when we saw him.

Still, there you go...

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff

When I was at WDW in 1996, I was walking with my mom and brother towards the Haunted Mansion. I looked up and just froze.. Two of the Isley brothers were standing at the gates of HM!!!! I was a huge fan back then (okay, I still am) and I nearly had a fit!!! Mom didn't have any paper or even a pen! I just stood there with my mouth hanging open like a dummy! LOL!

Wow! A lot of you have seen Michael Jackson! I would just die! LOL! I've been a huge fan since I was little, so I would probably break down in tears... hehehe!

I saw Harry Carry in Portobello Yacht Club once, the entire resturant started singing "take me out to the ball game"

I was also riding Kali River Rapids in AK one day, shortly after it opened and Regis Philbin was on the walkway you ride under as the ride ends. He had a camera man with him and we waved, he waved back! This is while he was still partnered with Kathie Lee Gifford.

at Typhoon Lagoon, I met and talked to Barry Williams (gregg Brady from the brady bunch) in line for Humunga Cowabunga!!! too funny. He ended up marrying the nive woman he was with. He was a very nice man!

Many years ago we spotted Ivana Trump with her two kids shopping at Epcot (they were both teens).

We saw Michael Eisner at AK a month before it officially opened (during the "soft" opening).

We saw the woman who played Roseanne's sister at MGM as part of the "star of the day" thing.

During one of the old Back-Lot tours we saw Hulk Hogan and Carol ? filming their TV show.

AND we were just at AK late last month and spotted a female TV star ... we recognized her, but can't seem to recall her name or the name of her show. Both my DD and I spotted her and made the same recognition ... her and her family were also with an official CM tour guide. I think it was on 3/28/03 so if anyone knows who this was, please advise!!

We saw Michael Jackson and McCauley Culkin in 1991 at the MGM Studios. They were in front of the Brown Derby. They hopped the fence onto the grass, smiled and waved at everyone. We got it all on video. Michael smiled and waved to me as I screamed "I love you Michael".

Of course, this was before we thought anything "weird" about him!

Since we are on the topic of celebrities..............where do they stay? Do they get special treatment by CM's as far as escorts thru the parks and special access to the rides so they don't have to wait in line with us "commoners"? I always wondered about that anyone know???

From what I remember, I had asked a CM at MGM at the time what happened for the rides and if they got special treatment and he said that Michael and MacCauley were escorted on the rides and didnt have to wait in line.

Some of the celebs I've seen over the years are:

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver and their kids at DL
Bryant Gumbel at MGM
Michael Jackson at MK

But my favorite and most memorable was from 1988 while I was on my honeymoon at the Disney Inn (now SOG) . John Stamos was staying there too. This was back when he was Blackie Paris on General Hospital and I LOVED him! I was beside myself when I saw him there at the hotel. There was no one around either so we talked to him and he let me take a bunch of pics with him and he even joked that he didn't want to see some Enquirer headlines about stealing away a bride on her honeymoon. LOL

Later we saw him again in the park with a big hat and sunglasses and he waved but kindof motioned to not make a big deal. It was so fun.

I always though Michael J. and other "mega" celebs would have the run of the parks privately after closing to the public.

I never imagined them to be there with the public, much less to ride in the Doom Buggy in front of me :)

In July of 1999, I encountered three celebrities at WDW. While I was in the character greeting area in Toontown, Tara Lapinski was brought in through a back door with a couple of her friends. We left her alone. While we were in Animal Kingdom, we had Dikembe Mutombo walk right by us. The most memorable encounter we had was with Erik Estrada. We were at the Yacht and Beach Club pool just wandering around. All of a sudden, this guy in a lounge chair jokingly asked my daughters if they would like to buy a cookie for 25 cents. I looked and saw it was Erik Estrada and his family. I replied that I would give him a nickel. My wife did not here all of the conversation and thought I had asked for an autograph and Mr. Estrada had told me it would cost 25 cents and I replied I would only give him 5 cents. My wife was mortified and wanted to get out of their. I talked to him for a few moments and then moved on. He seemed like a very nice man.

Last August our family literally ran into Kobe Bryant and his wife while picking up DD and DN from the Grand Floridian. A couple a days before we were doing the Family Magic Tour and standing at the well on the side of Cinderella's Castle Robert Horry, DW and children were peeking in to see what we were doing.

Over the years we have seen a few celebs, last year we ate dinner at The Rose and Crown to watch Illuminations and sat next to Christina aguilera.Years before me met John Ritter while he taping a July 4th special at the mk.Also saw Neil Patrick Harris at MGM.

I have seen...
Gary Sinise, man did he look scruby! He was with his family coming for their PS at CRT.
I also saw Blair Underwood, also coming for his PS with his family.
Mary Lou Retton, at CRT breakfast
And my first celeb sighting as a CM was the owner of Gateway computers. I dont remember his name though.
When I was younger on vaction I saw Nancy Kerrigan....either right before or right after the Olympics.

And a funny story......

In our system celebs and important people are noted with a "PX" (I think it was PX, it was _X). Anyway, we had a PS with the PX notation, which means their table takes precedence over any other PS and is to be ready when they arrive. Well the PS was made in our managers name so we didnt know who it was. About 10 mins before the PS a cop doing security came up to check and see if the table was ready for her "guest." The cop was a real B****. So we got all excited, cause anyone with that much security must be someone VERY important. Turned out to be the wife of a governor of some state. How disappointing!! The cop came back and apologized for being so rude, it was her first job as security and she wanted to make sure everything went well!

The only celebs I have seen were both on the Disney Cruises. Gary Sheffield of the LA Dodgers was on the first cruise and our 2nd cruise was when Nick and Aaron Carter were on. I played basketball with the Carter brothers is my claim to fame.

Here we go:

Michael Jackson years and years ago at Epcot.

Michael Eisner at the Yacht Club

Roy Disney at the Yacht Club.

Sinbad at TOT.

Drew Carey in Animal Kingdom.

Dominique Wilkins at MGM.

Bobby Allison (late, great NASCAR Driver) at the Polynesian.

We sat next to Cal Ripken Jr and his family for a parade at MGM a few years ago. My DW still talks about his eyes..

Dennis Miller and his family were also there in the special section roped off for the celebs.

I really felt sorry for them once people realized who they were. All they wanted to do was spend some time at WDW with their families and they could not without getting mobbed for autographs.
