Celebrities at WDW

I saw some basketball player in the creek at BB. I can't remember who, which means it wasn't Michael Jordan or Larry Bird. I remember seeing him, though, and thinking "MAN, is that guy TALL!" then my co-workers informed me he was a famous player.
Another friend served Katie Holmes a Dole Whip.

Since we are on the topic of celebrities..............where do they stay? Do they get special treatment by CM's as far as escorts thru the parks and special access to the rides so they don't have to wait in line with us "commoners"? I always wondered about that anyone know???

Of course celebrities stay at deluxe resorts. I worked for one years ago and we stayed in a suite at the BC.

Only celebrities who aren't considered a security risk i.e. Michael Jackson don't wait in lines with the common folk! LOL!

Disney has guides that manuever guests around the parks discretely. My boss now, although not famous, is mega wealthy and I made arrangements for the family to tour the parks with a guide. They had special areas to view fireworks, parades, wait on less of a line, but they did wait, etc. If you've got the $$$$$ a day in Disney can be a breeze!

I've only met one celebrity - Gloria Estefan at MGM. She was with her family and a guide. I didn't want to approach her, but someone else did and had the Disney guide take a picture! After that, I decided to say hello. She was more than gracious, she introduced my friend and I to everyone in her family and we chatted for 15 minutes. I didn't ask for an autograph or a picture, but I'll never forget it!

Is Bobby Allison dead? I know two of his sons were killed (Davey in a helicopter crash and Clifford in a racing accident) but I believe that Bobby is still alive.

Back to the thread:

I have seen any celebs yet but perhaps I will in the next forty years.

Many many moons ago, maybe 1992?? I saw Princess Diana and her sons with some friends I guess...and many men in suits :) at Hoop Dee Doo. Very very cool. Prince Harry was selected to be in the show. We snapped a few pictures (without the flash of course). Very memorable.

Other celebs:

Ed McMahon
The USA basketball team (the first year it was well known NBA players when they trained at Dinsey Institute)
A few Backstreet Boys
Christina Aguilera
Emmit Smith
Jenna Von Oy

Many more that I can't seem to recall at the moment.

When I was little, we encountered Neil Patrick Harris at the Country Bear Jamboree. In fact, my own grandmother was sitting next to him and called him "DOOKIE"!!! :p

New Year's Eve i saw Meredith Viera at Teppanyaki and the next morning at 1900PF breakfast she was also there. Saw Rick Pitino(when he was coach of Celtics) trying to be incognito NOT! He had on Celtics hat, shorts, shirts and socks..waiting for Splash Mtn with all the Massachusetts folks during our spring break(we always are different because we have to go during Patirots Day which is April 18th).

Back in 2000 while visiting Downtown Disney, we couldn't figure out why some of the stores were closed. Well, we found out soon enough. Michael Jackson was visiting and what ever store he wanted to go into, thye cleared it out and only him and his party were allowed in. I didn't get close enough for an autograph...yeah like they would let anyone that close. Was close enough for a photo though, to bad the camera was back at the hotel.

We spotted skater Elvis Stoyko at EPCOT in May of 2001. My MIL saw him first and ws all gaga ( she LOVES him) and made a big deal about it to us ( who were clueless). We saw him again later in the day and I got a better look. Yep...it was him.

When we went to Animal Kingdom, we saw the Mowry siblings (Tia, Tamera and Tahj) filming segments for a special. We didn't go up for autographs, photos or anything of the sort. We just saw them as we were headed towards Countdown To Extinction (now Dinosaur).

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff

Ok first off...NO, Bobby Allison has NOT passed away.

NOW, my celebrity siteing ...Im NOT possitive if it was REALLY him or not...but if it wasnt it was his identical twin! LOL

I went to animal Kingdom alone 2 years ago and when I walked in there was BALOO. (nope, not my celebrity LOL) well I LOVE Baloo and wanted a picture but had nobody to take it. So when im looking for someone to ask I always look fopr someone that looks like they have a clue how to use a camera. So there was this guy next to me and he looked like he could handle it so I asked him. Well he shook his head yes and I handed it to him thinking he looked familiar. While as I was posing I realized it was Ward Burton (a nascar driver). Well I am not 100% sure it was him...but Im about 95% that it was. So I went over to get my camera and figured If I could get him to talk I would know for SURE if it was him. Well I couldnt get him to talk for NOTHING...so now im even MORE convinced that it WAS him! LOL

ANd no I would never have asked him even though Ward is WONDERFUL with his fans...that was neither the time NOR the place for that. Im jsut happy telling the story of Ward Burton taking my picture at AK :)

This past Christmas (2002), my family and I happened to go to Magic Kingdom the day they were filming the Christmas Parade (yeah, a few weeks in advance).

It was crazy in there, with camera crews and crowds everywhere. We decided to just take our time and hang out on Main Street.

We ended up jumping in a little group where they were going to film a segment. And I couldn't believe my luck - Wayne Brady of "Who's Line Is It Anyway?" fame was leading the segment! I had seen his show when it came to Atlanta, and I was so happy to get a picture and autograph, AND I saw myself on TV on Christmas Day!! Very cool.

Just a comment - my dad always takes notice when there are CMs in the parks with the green and red plaid vests on. More often than not, they seem to be escorting someone important, if not famous. Anyone else notice that, or know what those guides are for?

Right after MGM opened we saw Blair Underwood there. then a few years later we were at Epcot and were just standing outside The Land Pavilion trying to decide what to do, when Carl ( can't remember his real name)the character from Another World Soap Opera came walking up with a femal and a CM. Last year during the Flower and Garden Festival we met Paul James from HGTV. We talked for several minutes and he was great. A really nice guy. Then last August we were just about to get on the Peter Pans ride, when we were stopped and out from the back came Michael Jackson with his children. I could not believed we were so close to him. thank, goodnes my SIL thought a quicly took a couple of pickures. I guess he wanted to go to the real NeverNeverland LOL!!!

ADAN SANDLER. Sat right in front of him at Honey I Shrunk The Audience New Years Eve 1998/1999.

My family were hanging out at the pool at the Contemporary next to Dom DeLuise and his entire family back in the Mid 80's. My Dad stuck up a conversation with him I believe and he was quite nice.

We have seen:
Ricki Lake by the quiet pool @ the BW Inn 1999
The late Mrs. Greenthumb @ the Flying Fish 1999
The guy who played James on Spin City (he was dressed as a slob) in MK 1999
The boy who plays Cory Matthews in Boy meets World on the Boardwalk he was walking with his girlfriend 1999
Jeff Corwin the guy who deals with animals in the "Screen Door" just before it closed. He was in his coveralls and barefeet. 1999
Drew Carey in Epcot I have a picture of him but can't figure out how to post it here. 2001
Also Kelly Ripa in the gift shop upstairs at the Poly she was pregnant with Lola at the time I was standing next to her didn't realize it was her until Mark and Micheal came upstairs to meet her so that they could get on the monorail.

My mom used to be a cast member and was in Candlelight in 1999. I went with her but since it was just me and her and I was only 13 she took me to the backstage area behind America. We were standing out there right before they walked out and LeVar Burton drives by. He yells out the window "Y'all getting all warmed up" and my mom being the dork she is starts doing jumping jacks and jogging in place. He cracked up and talked to us for a minute and then had to go. Man that was mad cool. That same night I also say Mr. Rogers and his family and the Lawrence Bros. it was a good night.

John Schneider from the "Dukes of Hazard" tv show. I saw him just last month (3/22/03) at MGM down near the R n' RC and TOT. He was with his family. Still very handsome!

Like I posted before, I'm sure we banged into Meg Ryan in Downtown Disney, Disneyland CA. We were looking at candles and ornaments and my mum asked her what a 'votive' was. She seemed very friendly and told her. At this point we hadn't twigged that she could be Meg Ryan.

Later when queueing to pay for these things, the same woman was in front of us and it was October so we were buying Halloween things that we don't get back here in the UK so much (certainly not the same variety of things anyway). So, there is mum holding this witch doll with a broom sticking out. Mum being mum she accidentally walked forwards and tapped this woman on the head /neck with the broom of the doll!! All I could think of was that she was going to get the woman's hair all tangled up! It was only after the woman paid that my sister and I turned to each other and agreed (without any initial suggestion) that the woman was very like Meg Ryan... with longer hair. Well, when we checked recent pictures of Meg Ryan when we got home, she was sporting longer hair!

One memorable trip to WDW in the 1980's resulted in our family sharing an elevator ride with Ron Howard and his family at the Contemporary Resort. They exited at the concierge floor and we continued to the restaurant on the 15th floor for a breakfast buffet. I miss those breakfast buffets up there!

Later that same visit, my sister ate lunch at a table next to Donny Osmond in the restaurant at the China Pavillion in EPCOT. I didn't go, so I missed all of the excitement :-)

Also, in 1992, I was strolling around Disney Village Marketplace (aka Downtown Disney) and saw a charcoal drawing of Ken Olin and his wife Patricia Wettig (both of "thirtysomething" fame) at one of the little carts out on the walkway. I asked the artist about the drawing, and he said that they had posed earlier and left it for him to display on his cart. He had several other drawings displayed, too, but not with anyone that I recognized.
