Celebrations at WDW...birthday question..

I turn 40 on April 6th..we don't actually arrive till the 22nd and have our first reservation booked at the Sci-Fi at HS on the 23rd..when I made our reservation, they asked if we were celebrating anything..I said my 40th birthday and they asked a date and I gave the 6th of April. Do they do celebrations for people celebrating their 40th year even though the reservation doesn't actually fall on my birthday?

Does anyone know? Thanks!!

"Do celebrations" can mean anything from being told "Happy birthday" to being sung to by the restaurant staff to being given a free cupcake or dessert.

I've only gotten free food on my actual birthday but what happens is going to depend entirely on your server and what they're willing to do. It's also possible they'll do nothing.

DDs bday is on the 12th of April but we can't go until our spring break which is 2 weeks later. Last year they gave her a birthday packet with a button because I told them we were celebrating her 16th, and they did ask when her bday was. They also gave us a free room upgrade at AKL to savannah view. We are doing the same this year for her 17th.

Oh and...when she wore her button at Crystal Palace they brought her a little birthday cupcake! And sang!

As someone previously said, you could get something or you could not. I had my DH's 50th birthday noted on all of our ressies and nothing was done; for my 50th birthday, every single place we went to I got a cupcake, or piece of cake, or a card or confetti or something. For our 25th anniversary two years ago, we received chocolates, champagne toast, cupcake, cake, etc., at every place except for Whispering Canyon. It's really hit or miss on how busy it is, who your server is, etc.

Go ahead and celebrate it. Wear your button the whole week or just on the "choosen" day to celebrate it. That is what it is all about, what makes you happy!

You can celebrate anything you want any day while you're at Disney!
