Celebration Transport Options

After years of talking about it, I have promised myself I will visit Celebration during our trip later this year.

Does anyone have any tips/information for transportation? We won't be hiring a car so we're looking at either a bus or taxi. I was sure I read somewhere before that one of the Lynx buses from DTD went to Celebration but I can't seem to find the same information I did before. Has anyone used this service before?

TIA!

Can't really help with the transport situation, but we always stay at the Celebration Hotel. We adore this little town, even though it is very kitsch. We always have a car, though. I can't think that I have ever seen a bus around the town, or even a bus stop.

Enjoy your time there.

Thanks Pam. It's somewhere I've always wanted to see but it seemed like every year it was put aside for something else so this year I've put aside one day so that I can go and look around. I have a feeling if I see it in person I'll immediately want to move there :rotfl:

You can catch the Lynx 56 from the TTC but it will only take you so far! Its quite a long walk, or least it felt like it in the heat, to the main part of Celebration. Personally I would catch a taxi if you aren't driving or maybe just catch a taxi there and then you can decide if you want to do the walk back to the Lynx bus stop, which is just before you hit the 192..:)

Thanks! So far a taxi seems like the most convenient option.

I agree that a taxi would be best. We spent out last day there, New Year's Eve, it was lovely to walk round the lakes and eat ice cream outside in the sun :)

I'm sure you will love it! We did, which is why we stay there. Of course, we have the luxury of not having young children with us any more, so don't need to stay on site. If you ever go to Orlando at Christmas time, make sure you go to Celebration then. It snows on Main Street 3 times a night, there are shows, stalls, carriage rides, beautiful decorations, an artificial ice rink, and it is just magical. One of my favourite things to do at any time is to get a coffee and pastry at Starbucks, sit by the lake and see if I can spot the alligators!

I think you may be disappointed in Celebration. The town is not what it once was especially when it was owned by Disney, and has become more of a bar town and business fronts. Some of the gift shops have closed as well as the AMC Theatre. And I dislike the hotel since it was bought out by Marriott.

Thanks for the reply. As it's the first time I've been I won't really have anything to compare it to. It's more the history and idea behind it I'm interested in and would just like to see it. Only planning half a say or so there so it won't be a major part of the trip. It's a shame about the AMC though!

I think you will still have a great time in Celebration. The views are fun, and if you are staying during the weekend you can visit some of the open houses which is always fun to do!

Not noticed a difference in the hotel, to be honest, the staff are still great and the rooms are the same. I do think it's quite expensive, food and drinks especially. We've only found a Friday night to be loud with crowds spilling out onto the streets, but it's always been good natured and it just seems like the end of the week jubilation!!!

I think the fact that it is a business hotel is the reason it appeals to us, we always have the pool to ourselves and it not full of noisy kids - we are way past that stage in our lives!!!
