Celebration Round Up and BBQ

I just called to make a different priority seating and was told that it's "buffeteria" style meaning: They put the food on your table family style and you share with your family (ribs, chicken, etc). She also said that Woody and Jesse would be "making rounds." So interesting what tidbits we get from different cast members!

That sounds like how they did the luau at WDW and it was wonderful!

What if you are by yourself? Do you then share with someone else's family? ;) I am thinking, possibly. In which case that is fine with me.
Does anyone know for how long this BBQ will be offered? I would like to know if it is only going to be during the summer or what have you. TIA

My guess is, if you are by yourself, you would probably be seated at a table for 2.

I wouldn't want a "stanger" joining my DH & I as we celebrate our anniversary.....;)

I just made a reservation for 4/2, and I also asked the same question's regarding "Is this a Charater meal and such. Humm we'll see I hope the ribs are good!:hippie:

13 more days!!!

For those of you wanting to meet characters at this meal. It seems that they have finally decided on a configuration.

Disney's PhotoPass Service will have a photo location as you enter where Guests will be able to take a picture with Woody & Jessie from the Disney/Pixar Film Toy Story 2. I'm almost certain that a PhotoPass Host or Hostess will visit your table during your meal and try to sell you the photo.

In addition, Chip and Dale will be over the petting zoo, celebrating up a storm with the animals.

Sweet!

I can't wait to read the reviews after some of you get to go!

Oh PLEAZZ:worship: I hope someone post a review on this soon. Doesn't it officially open tomorrow?

Can't wait to hear about this. We have PS for this on May 5. We will also be celebrating our anniversary. 25 years

I'm guessing this is considered a TS type of meal not CS, so an adult wouldn't be able to get away with a kid meal..of course if it's served family style they aren't going to allow an adult to order as a kid.
I'll be interested in seeing what people think of this! Another site posted that the price didn't include taxes or tip, so that's a question to be answered as well. And...what's in the goody bag since only kids get it???

I can already see what's going to happen when you mix BBQ ribs and a petting zoo.....

"Mommy! Look, I'm painting the sheep!" :rotfl::rotfl:

I am definitely not a germaphobe. Little billy pets the animals then runs and grabs something to eat. Though a petting zoo is nice as you always have fresh meat, lol.

I believe they have sinks next to the petting zoo, at least I saw sinks next to the reindeer during Christmas time. Presumably they are for washing your hands after petting the animals but I suppose with a BBQ it might be good to do before petting them too! We don't want any BBQ sauce colored goats! :rotfl:

Well its the 2nd , has anyone eaten there yet? How was it?
Well?? Well?? we are waiting!!:lmao:

I'm still confused as to exactly how the food is served - family style OR buffeteria? Technically, buffeteria is a different method of service than family style. 'Family style' is what they do at Ariel's or like Buca di Beppo and Maggiano's (Italian places out here in L.A.) - the servers bring out the big platters or huge bowls and everybody digs in. 'Buffeteria' is the exact set-up that Plaza Inn has. So it seems like it couldn't be both family style and buffeteria at Celebration; it would have to be one or the other, I imagine. So based on the set-up of the Ranch, it seems like the best way to do it would be family style - unless they have installed some buffeteria-style counters on which to slide trays.

I guess we will find out soon enough!

Sherry - Somebody posted a pic on flickr (see link below) of the Celebration Round Up sign and it definitely says family style.

Oooh! Cool! I think family style would make sense in that kind of ranch set-up/environment.

I hope it is true family style and not buffeteria-style. I like the family style idea better. And I think it will be great fun if we all have to sit on benches side by side with other groups of people as big platters of food are being plunked down on the table!

When I phoned disney dining ...I was also told the price did NOT include tax and tip.

... was told when making my ressie that the $28.99 INCLUDED tax and tip, as reported on MP as well.

FWIW, Darkbeer says, “Tax and Tip are NOT included.”

Adults $28.99 + 8.75% sales tax + 15% gratuity
Children $18.99 + 8.75% sales tax + 15% gratuity

Disney adds an 18% gratuity for parties 6 or larger.
Celebrate Roundup and Barbecue opens Thursday – Get ready to pay

The Refurb walls came down Monday night after park closing, and the first “dress” rehearsal was at lunch time on Tuesday, with Disneyland Resort Management being the “guinea pigs”.

Basically everyone will eat the exact same meal, which the Main course will be “BBQ Chicken and Ribs”, though there will be a vegetarian option, along with the fixin’s, a cupcake for dessert and a beverage.

You pay in advance, similar to Goofy’s Kitchen. Adults at $28.99 and Children 3 through 9 are $18.99, put Tax and Tip are NOT included, and it adds up quickly.

California raised its Sales Tax 1% today (and that is not a joke), so it is now 8.75% in Orange County. And Disney adds 18% (on the pre-tax price) for a tip when they pre-charge for its character Meals.

So an Adult Meal starts at $28.99, but you add $2.54 in sales tax, and $5.22 for the tip, and it is $36.75 that is actually charged at the register. Kids Meals are $18.99, $1.66 sales tax and $3.42 for a tip, coming out to $24.02 total charge.

Annual Passholders do get their regular discount, and that is on all three amounts, so Southern California and Deluxe Annual Passholders pay 10% less, or $33.08 for Adults, and $21.66 for kids. Premium annual Passholders get their 15% off, so $31.24 for Adults, and $20.46 for kids.

Now, the price does include both the meal, and the entertainment, plus a gift bag for kids, but be prepared for a sticker shock, when they charge over 25% more than what is posted.

whats so funny is them bringing this back...since I can remember this was big thunder ranch BBQ...same menu except it was buffeteria style and you went and ordered and got your food on trays at covered wagons...it was great...in the middle of the ground they had a deep pit they used as a bonfire and would hillbillies would come over and sing campfire songs at night and of course the petting zoo was there..btw there are sinks at the petting zoo...anyways a few years ago they got rid of it because Disney "thought" (big mistake already) they would turn it into a place where businesses and large parties could book for lunch or dinner and it would be catered...but obviously we know how well that went over...I was so sad they got rid of the bbq because it was a must do each trip...it was great bbq so now it seems theyve brought it back just changed the name and this time its family style and with a show and character photopass ops...plus we know about the kiddy bags...so Im glad..if they are using the same recipe then you wont be disappointed:thumbsup2
