Celebration of Harry Potter - did you go?

We have 2 days planned for Universal before heading over to Disney for a longer stay. The Celebration event is happening while we staying at Disney, but we are buying the buy 2 get 1 day passes so could return to Universal during that time.

Did you attend the Celebration event before? If you did not buy the vacation package could you get in to the events/displays? How were the crowds ( we could avoid some rides having done them earlier in the week, but wonder if it just gets packed in general).

Any insight or advice much appreciated!

I'm curious, too. We are mixing DW and universal, and we picked that Saturday to go to ioa, before we knew of the celebration. I'm worried about crowds. Would love some of the same info you seek!

I've been to one celebration - the first one - but we had event passes so I can't totally speak to your question about getting into things without the passes. That time, there were long waits but it was the first one. We are going to the January event and had no trouble getting the package so I would guess it won't be horrible this time around. The event isn't as grand as the first one but I would still expect lines for standby. You will be able to do some stuff but not all without the vacation package.
