Celebration and Old Town?

Can't really comment for Celebration, but will seemingly go a little against the grain here for Old Town.

We went during the day, so not on a car cruise night, and all opinions were 'what a dump!'

It was horrible, litter everywhere, hardly anything open, felt very seedy not particularly safe and just a general dump.

Unless the car nights magically transform it, I really, really cannot see what the appeal is one little bit. I'm really into my cars myself so would love to go for that, but I wouldn't simply because the rest of it is horrible.

I would liken it to walking through somewhere like Tooting

I have just found the perfect reason for us to visit Celebration, the day after we arrive Celebration is host to the Great American Pie Festival (29thApril). Really glad I found out about this. There is a never ending pie buffet for $10. For greedy pigs like us I can't think of a better way to start the holiday.

We stayed at the Celebration Hotel the night before a cruise a few years ago and it just happened to be Pie Fest that day. It's just this kind of event, when the locals are out and enjoying themselves, that it's at its best.

Oh that sounds like fun - and who doesn't like a good pie?!

Hmm, wonder if I can wrangle my dates around for it *ponders*

LOL:rotfl: I do know exactly what you mean...The first time we went we also thought like you..gave it another go on a Friday evening and it had a totally different feel to it. I agree its certainly not Disney and can be untidy etc but its just a piece of real America.. It's amazing what darkness does to cover up the general dumppyness (I know thats not a word) of a place. Try it again on a Friday/Saturday night...:) It does have a sort of hidden charm about it you just have to dig deep to find it and forget that Disney is next door!!!!

We've been to the Pie Festival and DH made a real pig of himself - then went for a walk and back for more :rotfl2:. We're over there then but wouldn't have looked to see if this was on as it usually on earlier in the month. We'll be making a visit, DH has been disappointed that it's not been on on our visits since. Thanks for posting :thumbsup2.
