Hi All-

My husband and I have decided to celebrate our 25th on a 3nt Wish cruise in November. We're very excited and looking forward to a different experience than our four DCL cruises with our kids. We've never sailed the Wish, so we've got a bit of a learning curve. I've pored through threads about the Wish and have a basic handle on things, but I am wondering about recommendations you may have.

So far, our plans include:
  • dinner at Palo Steakhouse (my husband is more of a steakhouse person than a fine dining person)
  • having a drink at every bar on the ship (we don't spend much time in the lounges on our family cruises)
  • tree lighting ceremony
  • trivia
  • reading by the adult pool
  • getting off in Nassau for a short walking trip to Parliament (see the Queen Victoria statue)
  • Serenity Bay
  • drinks at a couple of the CC bars (when we're with the kids, we spend the day swimming and hanging out with them)
What would you add? What is something you feel shouldn't be missed on a Merrytime Cruise, specifically a short Wish cruise?

Thanks for your input!

Happy anniversary!

My favorite activity when we started sailing without kids (or with adult kids) has been going to live music on the lounges, especially in the evening when I no longer had to make sure my kids got to bed. This can easily be combined with getting a drink in every lounge, if you want, but you don't need a drink to enjoy the music.

If you do enjoy drinks, you may enjoy a beverage seminar/tasting. Even if they appear to be sold out before your cruise, you can check at Guest Services to see if there have been any cancellations.

Perhaps a visit to John Watling's Distillery? They offer a short 15 minute free tour and then you can purchase a tasting at the end. We really enjoyed their rums and the Pina Coladas were amazing! It would be an easy walk from Parliament Square and you also pass the Government House and National Art Gallery on the way.

Congratulations on 25 years! It sounds like you have a solid plan in place. :thumbsup2

I would also add in some of the adult entertainment at night. I'm not sure exactly what the Wish does now as it was limited when we sailed but Match Your Mate is always a big hit and full of laughs.

As for the bars on CC, I would definitely recommend the Heads Up Bar. That is our tradition to spend the afternoon out there and it is so peaceful and beautiful. You get a view of the beach, water, and ship, and for some reason not a lot of people go there.

Put in a request for a private table for dining.

Any interest in pushing your tastebuds with Enchante Brunch? Or Prima Notte in Palo?

“Offered in two sessions on the first night of a sailing, Prima Notte is a wine-tasting session that pairs high-quality wines and handpicked bite-sized food offerings including sliced herbed yellowfin tuna, Snake River Farm wagyu beef, and a blood orange chocolate mousse served over a dusted chocolate disc. The event is hosted by the Palo Steakhouse sommelier, who provides information on the wine and food pairings, which remain the same at each session and on each ship.”

Watch the sunset / sunrise from the Promenade Deck.

Do the “Art of The Theme Show Tour,” if offered. It’s a walking tour, about an hour. Free. Listed in Daily Schedule when available.

Don’t skip things just because you do them with family. You might like them for yourself, not just “for the kids.” Don’t skip fireworks. Get a Princess photo with both of you.

I watch movies late at night on Funnelvision.

Congratulations on your Anniversary. And raising kids who can handle your being away.

Oh that is a great idea! We did Prima Notte on our last sailing and loved it! We did an appetizer and salad in the main dining room and then went to Prima Notte. I noticed one couple actually booked a regular Palo reservation for after Prima Notte. It isn't a full meal so you definitely need something additional before/after but it is a lovely experience and more intimate. There were only 12 of us seated at 6 tables for 2.

Thanks! Enchante sounds wonderful to me, but it's not his cup of tea. He'd be more than happy to go and would put on a happy face and be game to try whatever, but it wouldn't be something he'd enjoy. Due to it being a celebration of both of us, I want to be sure he enjoys his meal and experience as much as I do.

Thank you, also, for the compliment on our kids! The oldest is 23 and is the property of her Uncle Sam, and the other two are 19 and 16. They think this trip is a fantastic idea :-), and are excited to hear about our adventures. I'm definitely planning on meeting Mickey and Minnie in their Christmas finery, but I am planning to skip a couple of things that we normally do with them (like the Aqua Mouse,) because it will make me miss them even more! My middle daughter loves the Mickey churro waffles and looks forward to them every cruise, and while I enjoy them, too, I'll pass until we're all together on the Treasure next summer. It's sort of my way of honoring the little traditions we have built over the years.

Thank you to everyone who responded! I mentioned the distillery tour to my husband, and he thought it sounded great. I truly appreciate everyone's time and thoughts!

You have received some great info already and what you have planned sounds awesome. 3 nights will fly by! My husband and I celebrated our 45th anniversary on the Wish in June. Make sure to tell your servers know it’s your anniversary! You can also stop by guest services and get an anniversary button.

Take the tour of the ship and learn about some background and design elements and how they work together.

At night when lights are on ,go stand in the middle of the atrium and look straight up. The ceiling alludes to the night sky and center of the chandelier becomes the "wishing" star. After all you are on the wish so go see the wish star. You won't see it looking from a different vantage point.

Find the cargo bay when star wars characters are there. It isn't marked so you have to ask and hunt. It's pretty cool, like walking into a real cargo bay on board a star ship.

Same thing for the super heros training room.

On one end of the food deck is the BBQ. I think it is really good. A lot miss it because of its location.

Happy Anniversary!

I did a kid free anniversary trip on another line just recently (like got off the ship yesterday), honestly my favorite thing was being able to read a book, and I may have taken a nap in a thermal chair.

As for the wish, we did a champagne tasting in Nightingales, and I really wish I had been able to check out that bar at night, alas we had the kids with us.

Which sailing are you on? We're celebrating our 40th anniversary on the Wish 3-night sailing 11/22/24.
