Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

Ah, how great that Alex's playdate went so well!

We have the Four Parks, One World CD in the car and listen to it all the time! It always puts me in a better mood!

I think I'm caught up, Amy! Woohoo for being down to six weeks! party:: I think your budgetting looks great :goodvibes: And good idea on the list..I am a list person though, I make lists for everything!

Yeah for 6 weeks! or is it 5 weeks now because I'm always so behind?!

Hi Amy. All your plans look great. :cool1::banana: for 6 weeks!! That means I have 7 weeks :yay::yay:!!

I have the 4 parks CD also & I love it. I will be playing mine a lot now too as the trip gets closer.

TGM buttons??? I have used his plans for the past 3 years but did not realize he has buttons. After using his plans I did not order it for this trip as I now know how he does the "which park on which day" plan. He has lots of good suggestions though.

Still have not decided on the bag?? I think I will use the Disney sling bag I bought a few years ago. I know it is a pain with my glasses but I will not use it every day as it will be just my DH & I. You need to carry more than I do.
Let us know what you decide.

:yay: on your son having a friend over. Everyone needs to have a close friend.

Have a great weekend.:)

There's a guy who designs TGM buttons for each month's "vacation clubs." Last year I got both the April & May buttons. There are new ones for this year, but they look very similar to last year's buttons. The year is on them, but it's so small that I think I'll just use my last year's buttons.

I'm glad you found a park bag that you like!! More on the bags below...

6 week dance!!! :) I really want that cd too!

I've wanted it for a while. I didn't come across it last year and didn't go out of my way to look for it either. I wish I had... It was on my list for this year, but decided I just had to have it BEFORE our trip to help get me excited... because I wouldn't be able to get excited without it, right? :rolleyes1 I got it through The Laughing Place. They go out to the parks and buy stuff that you can't get elsewhere.

LOL! No I don't think Jordan knows...might need to inform him!

I bought the Millie-lu and did get 10% off (I think, maybe more) via ebags (+free shipping) and then the Fortune Kuky via a different site also at about 10% off (which hasn't arrived yet). So still...not cheap but OH! I love it.

Used it tonight and Evan commented on it. :rotfl:

Granted, he is my label and fashion kid (well heck, 3 out of 4 are lol) but it was interesting that he picked right up on the new bag and commented on how much he liked it.

It weights....NOTHING. Like carrying air. Granted, all I had in it was checkbook, lip gloss, the new wallet (which I also adore), cell phone and my keys.

For Disney I'd subtract the checkbook, add a glasses case, binder thingy and my camera.

The pockets are perfect.

I like the Ducky as well...may need to test drive it in another fabric option....

eBags is having a 20% off sale this weekend!! I've been browsing bags today... I currently have seven different bags in my cart! I'm not sure if I'll even buy any of them though... I have a couple bags that I'll probably bring & switch between... If I thought a new park bag would take me through the whole week I'd probably buy it - I just don't know. But I should have a definite decision by the end of the weekend - when the eBags sale ends...

Welcome Back! I'm glad to see you over here! I love my lists! ;)

Still 6 weeks! You're only 2 days behind. :goodvibes Glad to see you're getting your DIS time!

Can't wait to see what you decide! I know the feeling of that full cart...and then walking away.

Can't wait to see what you decide! I know the feeling of that full cart...and then walking away.

I'm just so undecided about the whole thing! :headache: The sale is making me feel pressured to decide... luckily it ends tomorrow night not today like I originally thought.

Today starts our Florida/Disney countdown! We’ve made paper chains before (2007) and Mickey Head calendars (2009) so this year I asked the boys what they would prefer. They each chose something different, so again this year, we have two countdowns! We start on Sunday at 39 days!

Here is Alex’s:

Here is Zach’s:

100_0182.jpg

Why 39 days? That’s what fit on Zach’s calendar… :rolleyes1 and as you can see the Mickey heads correspond to the day of the week, ending on a Wednesday. We leave the following morning, a Thursday. I asked him if he wanted another row across the top so he could start counting down a week earlier but he wanted to have room to decorate. He added all the puffles (from Club Penguin). I helped him with a few…

I also wanted to share some pictures from a couple recent events. First, the boys' elementary school celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday with Read Across America week. The first week after February break we have a Green Eggs & Ham lunch, Crazy Hair Day, Vote for your favorite Seuss book, Literary character day & pajama day. Here are some pictues of the boys on Crazy Hair Day and Literary Character Day. Zach was Cat in the Hat. We had the hat from an old outgrown costume, the gloves are from his Mario costume & the shirt is from Alex's penguin costume last year. I cut off the flippers at the end of the arms and shortened the outfit. Alex is "Nate the Great" from the series of the same name. He is wearing my old "work" raincoat & I made the hat from two black baseball caps. I cut the bills a little shorter and used duct tape to hold them together!

These next photos are from this morning. The Children's Museum of NH in Dover, NH held it's first "Exploring our way" autism partnership program. The museum opened two hours early and hosted families who are effected by autism with free visits. They had special museum maps & social stories available. They also had visual icons posted all over the museum to show the rules, such as "no running" with a picture of a stick figure running, with an X over it. It was a ton of fun and so much less stressful than a normal visit would have been. Plus I ran into a couple friends who I have met through various autism programs.

I have 6 different bags in my cart...

Do you see my dilemma? I used my Vera Hipster today at the museum and I didn't like how it pulled on my neck... I know I've used other cross-body bags that haven't cut into/pulled on my neck like that?? :confused3 I had my wallet in there but not my glasses case. At WDW I won't carry a wallet, but will have the glasses case. It was probably comparable weight. I think my small Nike bag is out because it's too small. My glasses case took up almost the whole bag. I need to see if I can fit my sunglasses in a smaller case...

I hear you on the glasses case, that's a requirement for me too. The Maruca Millie Liu holds 2 glasses cases, small card case and my camera and weighs nothing which makes me SOOO happy but it's not a cross body bag. I doubt I'll carry 2 (rx sun and regular rx) but it's nice that it can hold them without being bulky or awkward. I think you are right on the Possibility, the main part doesn't have a closure but the 2 front pockets do and there is an open pocket on the back. Did you look at the City Girl? That one might work better, similar style but it does close.

I like that Bahama Sea blue fabric a lot, thought about getting my bag in it but went for the polo black instead. I actually ordered a glasses case in the stencil black to coordinate with the Polo Black bag, as I think that will make the bag even lighter with a fabric case instead of the hard large ones I have now and allow room for a sunscreen lol. We'll see how I like it.

Sherpani's are great bags, that one looks a lot bigger than the other ones you have there, not sure if it is. Other than that I probably like the LeSportsac the best. I've always worried about their straps being uncomfortable, which was my experience with the Bagallini but it's really cute!

I do see your dilemma....

Aaww..I love the boys' costumes for the Dr. Seuss day! Great job pulling those together MOM!

The museum looks like a ton of fun. How great to have that time set aside to enjoy at your own pace. :thumbsup2

I think my vote for the bag would be the first one. It looks really cute! Of course....I have no idea how it would feel when you carry it, but it looks like a great size. I found my hipster too small as well. I'll probably use it for our one day trip in May because I won't have autograph books, etc to carry. I didn't have an issue with it cutting into my neck, but it's so hard to tell how a bag will really feel until you use it. Good luck with your choice!

Do you know, I think not having a countdown calendar is really going to bum me out this year -- especially after seeing your cool chain and nifty calendar for the boys.

NATE THE GREAT!!! Connor and I loved his series when he was younger. Such great humor in them. The boys are so cute all dressed up.

I think I like the first bag the best, but you do have quite the dilemma.

I also like the first bag the best. I feel like you, though, I do not want something pushing on my shoulder the entire day b/c then it makes my neck hurt. :confused3 I'm looking forward to reading what you choose and also reading about how they were!

Replies tomorrow.... but I wanted to post a picture of this bag because I need your opinions...

I'm now considering a backpack... :rolleyes1 but it needs to small. This is a child's backpack, specifically a preschooler's backpack. I know that sounds crazy but the measurements look like exactly what I want. It's 12X9 1/2 and has a nice low profile. I'm just wondering if it will fit right with the way the straps are cut...

I need to sleep on it.

The sherpani thingy is the my favorite....of course take that for what it's worth.....;)

I don't think it sounds crazy, I'd be worried about it hitting right on your back though. Can you find a sling with those smaller measurements? I can see where that would be a very good size.

Our larger travel backback has this tiny front back that zips off and it's what Jeff uses as our dayback, it's about the same size as what you are looking at and it's perfect.

I wear Rx glasses all the time so I'll only need one case - I'll just swap them out. I'm thinking about getting a soft case... I just worry about squishing them!

I think the City Girl strap is too thin... which is true of a couple of the other bags too.

I was pretty proud of myself for "making" that Nate the Great costume!

I also like the first bag the best. I feel like you, though, I do not want something pushing on my shoulder the entire day b/c then it makes my neck hurt. :confused3 I'm looking forward to reading what you choose and also reading about how they were!

More on my decision coming up!

I know how much you love the bag conversations! :rolleyes1 Thanks for weighing in!

Are the straps adjustable on the backpack? If so, I think it would be okay.

It looks like the straps are adjustable... I wish I could find it at a real store. :confused3

I've never used a sling bag before but I feel like it would either fall off my shoulder or give me a back ache... :confused3 I guess I need to go to a store and try one out because there are a ton of them out there that look right.
